You may or may not know that I am the one who takes care of the yard work in our family. Yes, I’m the “yard boy” or if you live out in California, I’m the “gardener”. Either way, I mow the grass, weedwack, edge, and leaf blow. It takes me about 2.5 hours to do my 1+ acre yard the way I like it. Yes, I’m anal about the yard. I like it to look neat and pristine, hence I do not let Dick cut the grass…not that he would volunteer to do it anyway.

Kwik Kwote: Boys and Their Tails…

Pets: Kids just want to care for something of their own.
For some reason, kids just have this inherent need to have pets. They just want to take care of something and call it their own. Like most kids, my kids wanted to be the parents of their own puppy. Fanny Mae had bought an adorable little Pekingnese for herself, so when my mom brought the [...]
Tall Caramel Macchiato, extra shot, in a for-here mug please?
Today, at Starbucks, I didn’t distract myself with a book or crossword puzzle or cigarette like I usually do.
I just sat there and enjoyed the view, happy to be out of the confines of my house, breathing the fresh air and away from the memories of illness that has plagued us lately.
My Horrendous Habit: Picking at my Feet
Ok, here goes…I’ve been debating whether or not I should talk about this truly disgusting and embarrassing personal habit of mine…FEET PICKING. I know, gross ey??? This is dfficult to admit and publicize but I didn’t want my blog to be only about beautiful and happy things. I’m hoping this blog will help shed light [...]

[...]
Homeschooling Field Trip: Part 1 – Parrot Mountain
I’m taking Thelma and Louise on a field trip with their homeschool co-op. Where are we going today? We’re headed to Parrot Mountain and Wonderworks. Because our co-op scheduled a group tour, we were able to get a discount at Parrot Mountain for only $5 per child, one parent is free. Also, Wonderworks was running [...]
“Hey! That’s MY $5!!”
Fanny Mae found a $5 dollar bill laying on a table. I’ve seen this same five dollar bill laying around as well and was contemplating taking it if I saw it laying there much longer. Well, Fanny Mae beat me to it. But as soon as Fanny Mae was about to pocket it, Louise now [...]
Enjoying Nature: A picnic by the river in the mountains.
Every summer we go to the mountains to chill by the river and enjoy the beautiful nature that we have access to. We unplug ourselves for the day since there’s no TV, computers, or cell phone reception. This year, we’ve been so busy that the girls and I have made a few trips with my [...]
Salade Olivieh: Persian Chicken/Egg/Potato Salad. YUM!
I know it’s weird to be learning how to cook Persian food from a Vietnamese woman. But, I’ve seen the Persian recipes out there, and there are NO PICTURES! So, for those young Persians who don’t know how to cook or for those who just want to try some Persian yumminess, here is a picture-filled [...]
