Ok, so I don’t necessarily look like a mechanic’s assistant in this pic. This was taken after all the hard mechanic work when we went to the pool to cool off. More on that later.
We just got another car to sell, a Lexus ES300. It’s been well-kept and is beautiful but needs new tires. Since we don’t have time to get new ones now, Dick says we should rotate the tires since the front ones are more bald and for temporary safety, it’s better if they go in the rear. It’s 90F+ today and I’m super-thrilled to be out on the hot pavement…in the hot, hot sun…rotating tires. It’s DAMN HOT! Get it?
It may look like Dick is doing all the work but I’m taking pics in between unscrewing the lug nuts. Who knew that there is one smaller lug as a theft deterrent device??? So you learn something new every day. People think that because I’m a mechanical engineer and I used to work for Ford Motor, that I should know how to fix cars. That’s a MECHANIC’S job and I know nothing about fixing cars.
I’ve never rotated tires except while doing a small stint with a dealership maintenance crew thru Ford to learn what they go through. Using a hoist and pneumatic tools to change out the tires. This is the PROPER way. We don’t have those fancy tools to use to rotate tires so we put the jack in the middle of the frame so that both wheels are somewhat off the ground. I fear for my long skinny toes (toe sweepers my sister calls them) because this 4000lb car does not seem stable balancing on that little metal thing and I’m scared shitless the dang jack is going to give.
Luckily, that doesn’t happen and we rotate the tires. Again, I’m reminding my husband how lucky he is to have such a tough, multi-talented wife who is willing to do this kind of work. Dicks rebutting that I’m lucky to have a smart husband like him who is willing and knowledgeable to do these things and I should thank him for making me such a well-rounded person. Um…WHAT…EVER! (I know, great come-back. I’ve never been good at those.)
Next stop. Wash and detail. It’s off to the car wash…a 3-minute sit and ride kind. Love it! Plus, they have free vacuums so we don’t have frantically vacuum at lightning speed for fear of the suction cutting off in the midst of our cleaning.
The kids love using the vacuum and we’re drying off the car . I’m helping too…I just need to get the pic first! It’s a family effort as always.
Ok, now that we’re good and hot. It’s time to hit the pool! We bring snacks because we don’t want to spend money on unhealthy fast food and it’s close to dinner time so we know we’re going to be hungry!
Claussen pickles are the best and they’re the only ones in the fridge section. Wonder why? Anyway, they’re nice and crunchy. Jane likes!
WORK IS DONE. TIME FOR PLAY.
So here we are, back to the pool. We take the kids to go to the pool to cool off.
See Jane at the pool.

This picture didn’t need roll-editing only because I’m sucking in with all my might and thrilled that it’s not drooping over my bikini bottoms.
On to Dick and the girls…and a few tag-a-longs (as we have from time to time).
DICK.
Michael Phelps who? Phelps has a weird lip thing. Dick has 6-pack abs of steel. Yum.
