Today Dick and I went to the car auction to test drive cars. Tomorrow is the actual day of the auction and we need to scope out the cars we like ahead of time and make sure they are sound, clean and sell-able. I love it because I get to check out all the cars I like and take them for a spin. I take my little flowery girly notebook so that I can take notes on the cars. It even has a mirror under that flap. Hey, I may like cars but I’m still a girl.
This weekly auction usually has about 300+ cars and trucks, they even have RVs, motorcycles, and classic cars.
Ok, ready to DRIVE.
Right off the bat we see a Miata that reminds us of the one we used to have, pre-kids. Here’s a pic of the interior. Oh how I miss my little roadster and driving a stick shift! This car handles so freakin’ well, has a 50-50 weight distribution and has a turning radius like you wouldn’t believe. Great for city driving when you need to squeeze into a parallel parking lot!
I bought my Miata when I was working in Toronto at the Ford F-150 plant and even though it was February and still freezing in Toronto, I was so excited to test out the convertible that I would put the top down and crank the heat on high. I’m sure that people thought I was on some bad drugs. No people, I’m just crazy like dat. Unfortunately, Dick totaled our Miata a couple of years ago. Sniff sniff.
Some cars are filthy and smelly. I won’t even drive the smelly ones. Smelly=Lack of Care. No good yo! Some cars are beautiful on the outside but when you get in, you feel wonder if they’re trying to cover the smell of a dead body or something. Luckily, these Caddie and Lexus below have a pleasing odor.
We check under the hood to make sure there isn’t any engine damage. Also, any serious front end damage would be apparent from looking under the hood. Dick LOVES this Saab. It is not uncommon for us to love the cars that we buy to sell because we tend to buy cars that we would like to drive ourselves.

No, a classic Porche 911 would be better. No Porches today though. My days of wanting a super-sports car are somewhat over. I no longer like Lamborghini’s or Ferrari’s but a Maserati (like the one in Entourage) would be nice. However, this Nissan 350Z, is pretty sweet.

Test driving cars is super fun for Dick and me. When you enjoy the work you do, it makes it seem alot less like “work”.
