When we were in LA, Thelma was begging me to go ice skating like EVERY DAY. She missed it SO much. Around the corner from J Lo’s place was one of those small, temporary outdoor rinks they set up over the “winter” in her area. I don’t like these because usually the ice is really rough, the rink is extremely small, and the skates are crappy. But, Thelma didn’t care and we thought it would be fun to go ice skating anyway…even though it’s like 75F degrees!
It’s so hot, they’re having trouble keeping the ice from melting and so there are small puddles around. (That shiny wet part of the ice in the picture is melted ice.). Since it is so warm, we’re all wearing shorts and T-shirts, and I’m in my favorite summer dress (below).
THELMA

LOUISE AND WILL
It’s pretty crowded and Louise wants to be able to skate around with ease, so she and Will decide to use this contraption/crutch that helps small kids skate.
THELMA: SKATING TEACHER?
Thelma’s using her ice skating “expertise” to try to get Will to skate without the crutch and helps him along.
Skating takes practice so that your body can find that balance.

DICK CAN SKATE
Dick is skating too. He thinks he’s pretty good.
He’s actually not bad.
MARK ANTHONY
And so is Mark Anthony. It’s the 3rd time he’s ever skated in his life! Pretty good!!
He’s giving Carlton a helping hand.
J LO’s FIRST TIME
After some coaxing, we were able to get J Lo out there too.
She’s a little nervous since it’s her first time!
She grabs onto Will’s ice skating crutch for support.
After a little bit, she’s able to stand and skate on her own.
JANE CAN SKATE BUT SHE’S A SNOB
At first, I decide not to skate because well…I’m a SKATE SNOB.
Being a former skater, I don’t like using rentals. I only like my own figure skates. But, I thought about it again and thought it would be silly if I didn’t join in the fun. The kids would love it if I went, so I put on some rentals (yuck!) and head out on the ice.
