So, as I mentioned, this is the year for organization in our house. I’m tired of just storing all this stuff when someone else can probably make better use of it.
We’re still clearing out our closet and getting rid of stuff we don’t wear anymore. (Remember I had already started clearing out stuff before the holidays.) Often, we find great stuff that we forgot we had. Regardless, it’s decision time.
KEEP IT? GIVE IT AWAY? WILL I ACTUALLY WEAR IT?
I’m asking myself these questions and trying to picture if I will really wear it at some point in the next year. I say a year because if I don’t even wear it within a year then it’s not worth keeping. Some are questionable so I have to try them on.
THE FRUMPY DRESS
Of the ones I have to try on, I come across a dress that Mama F gave me when we were in California this last time. It’s a simple black cotton dress that someone had given to her and she gave it to me, saying:
“I cannot wear. Is too young for me.”
I thanked her but my first thought was:
“This dress is all kinds of frumpy and TOTALLY not my style.”
You can’t actually picture me wearing this dress, can you?
Well, you don’t have to. Here it is…
Not a Happy Jane. Not SWEXY. I don’t think so.
Not only is it frumpy, it makes me look about 3 months preggars too. No woman in their right mind wants to look pregnant if they’re not! I surely don’t want anyone coming up to me asking when I’m due.
However, I have vision and I can see potential in things that may simply get passed over by the every day eye.
FRUMPY NO MORE
Guess what we’re going to do…we’re going to ADD A BELT! You know that’s my fashion solution to everything these days. I then hike up the dress because the length is not flattering nor desirable.
I throw on some KILLER shoes and accessories and make some positional adjustments to the sleeves and we’re no longer frumpy and outdated. We’re RELEVANT!
Well, what do you think? Yes, I think this is more my style.
Yes, it’s the same dress. Amazing!
It’s too cold now to wear this but I can’t wait until it warms up. This is going to be my new favorite dress. It’s comfy, loose, simple and hip. What’s great is that you can wear this as an every day, casual dress or go out on a night on the town with the hubby.
I’m totally going to wear this whenever we out for dinner…I can eat all I want and my belly will not show!

I think that’s a great dress after the belt & sexy shoes! This is my year of organization also. I donated 53 pairs of shoes last year & recently found another bag full of hardly worn shoes & gave them away also. I like how you take pictures of yourself in an outfit. Sometimes I look at pictures of myself & think to myself wth was I thinking putting that on. It looked better in the mirror
