Yes, it’s that time of the year where my body decides it needs to pack on about ten more pounds (Hopefully that’s it!) in order to stay warm in the winter. Hibernation mode like the bears, ya know. Actually, it started last month…right around Halloween, surprise surprise. I realized this seasonal pattern a few years back and noticed that my weight was directly influenced by the season.
Love my stretch marks, which magically appeared 3 weeks before I gave birth to Thelma. BTW, don’t be fooled, I’m definitely sucking in here…and little bluring doesn’t hurt either.
Every year, my body weight is heavier in the winter and less in the summer, especially towards the end of summer. You just don’t want to eat as much when it’s warm outside. Maybe that’s why people in California are skinny.
Doing my mightiest to suck-in here as well but there’s still a pudge. Maybe if I arched my back a little more. Unfortunately, one looks extremely weird walking around arched like that.
Sadly, I have gained back all the weight lost from the Swine Flu diet. Sigh. See, diets don’t work! Thanksgiving also definitely added on a few more pounds since I stuffed myself thoroughly.
Ok, I know some of you are like, “That bitch is complaining about what?” but we all know that we’re most critical of ourselves, especially those of us who have had eating disorders. Doesn’t matter if you’re 300 lbs or 98 lbs.
It is also very complimentary and wonderful when your kids mention the recent changes to your body.
The other day, as I was hovering over the sink, brushing my teeth, Thelma says to me…
“Mommy! You’re stomach is hanging over your belt and jeans!”
“Yes, Mommy has gained some weight recently.”
“Maybe you have a FOOD BABY!”
“Yes, a FOOD BABY.”
