Since Little Italy is right around the corner from my aunt’s place, Eminem, MIA and I go out in search of a place to shoot pool one night.
There used to be a place that I would play at all the time but that was almost 10 years ago and it’s no longer there. So, as we’re walking, I stop and ask some bouncers in front of another establishment. He tells me there’s a place just a little further down called ANDY‘S POOL HALL. Sounds like a dive but that’s not uncommon for a pool hall. He then asks me:
“Do you…uh…like the girls?”
“Um…what?”
(I was confused, I didn’t know what he was talking about.)
“Oh, because they sometimes have, you know, GAY night at that place.”
“Oh! No, we’re not LESBIANS. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Seinfield) We’ll check it out.”
Funny, that’s the first time I’ve ever been asked if I was a Lesbian. Again, not that there’s anything wrong with that. LOL
ANDY‘S POOL HALL
So we walk and finally find the place.
We show our IDs and the bouncer is immediately like, “Tennessee huh?”. So we get to talking and I guess my Southern kindness rubbed off on them because they let us in and didn’t charge us a cover. Sweet.
I get inside and I’m totally surprised by HOW COOL this place is. It’s not really a pool hall at all!!
It’s like a LOUNGY CLUB…
They’re playing great music and even have a dance floor.
Oh, and of course, pool tables.
However, they only have like 6 tables. Weird considering that it’s called Andy‘s POOL HALL. More like Andy‘s CLUB and oh yeah, we have pool tables too.
Regardless, I think they place is AWESOME. I’ve never been to a pool hall this nice. TOTALLY my style of pool hall. Good music, good atmosphere, and pool too.
As soon as we get in, we grab some drinks.
My cousins get beers (BLECH! This Jane does NOT drink BEER. Never was able to “acquire” a taste like everyone says you need to. Would have saved me some money in college that’s for sure if I could have.). Anyway, I get this instead:
A LYCHEE MARTINI. Yes, I know, very ASIAN and very GIRLY.
Doesn’t seem to really go with pool but whatever. It’s what I like.
These guys spot me with my camera and want me to take a picture of them.
Like I said, drunkenness spawns stupidity.

Since there’s three of us, we play CUT THROAT.

The martini was TOTALLY WEAK and was mostly Lychee juice. So, I order some KAMIKAZES for us.
CO-ED TOILETS?
Before we leave, MIA and I hit the bathrooms before we have to walk home and find out that the bathrooms here are CO-ED! I’m open minded but honestly, this was kinda weird.
Some of the dudes are peeing without even closing the door! EEEWWWW!
This dude sees me with my camera and acts like he doesn’t want his picture taken.
But then insists on getting a picture with me and tries to FOLLOW ME into the bathroom.
“Dude! I need to pee. Get the f–k out!”
And I slam the door on him. CRAZINESS!
The bathrooms are FILTHY and I’m definitely HOVERING!
Ain’t no way this Jane is going to put her ass where all these nasty dudes have put theirs.
I know they pee standing up but whatever.
Oh, and I’m not using my hands to touch anything!!
I’m for equality but I’m not for Co-ed bathrooms.
Let’s keep this shiz SEPARATE.

Hello i am glad you had a good time at my bar a few misconceptions-
First we use SOHO LYCHEE liquor and Vodka in our Lychee Martini’s- no Lychee juice- although some Juice may leach out of The Real Lychees we use to garnish
- we have a professional cleaning company come in every night to clean the whole bar as well as staff throughout the night there may be some disgarded Paper towels on the floor here and there as does happen but the washrooms are not filthy- And the Bar is Called Andy Poolhall Not Andy’s I named it after Andy Warhol hence the decor. Next time you are in say Hi!!! Michael

Hi Michael. Thank you for your comments and clearing up the misconceptions. I’m sorry if I offended you however it was not meant to dishonor your establishment in any way.
I actually found your bar to be totally cool and loved it! But, my drink did seem a little weak (or maybe I needed more of a jolt that night) and by the time I actually used the restroom (closing time), it was pretty dirty and to be expected since it was the end of the night and boys were sharing the bathroom. It does show how busy your place was.
Again, I loved your bar,the atmosphere and the music…no disrespect. Next time I’m in town though, I will definitely look you up!!!
