Like everyone else in Metropolis, I was out getting groceries in anticipation of the “WINTER STORM” coming our way. Dick was driving back from Gotham City and although I was somewhat worried he would get caught in the storm, the snow had just started. He suggested I hit the Blockbuster and get us some movies. It seems we were not the only ones to have this idea. I pull up to Blockbuster and the parking lot is PACKED. WTF!?!?!
Oh yes, I’m sporting my jammies again. I came to the realization that it’s not because I’m too lazy to take the time to put on new clothes…because I take time to put on make-up. It’s because I’m already in something comfortable and I don’t want to strip down and get naked in this FREEZING cold to put on some different comfy clothes.
Inside were a million people standing in line, some with 3-5 movies each, large tubs of popcorn, and candy filling the buckets.
The line curved around almost to the very back of the store. Insanity! I call Dick to tell him because I seriously do not want to wait in line. He says what about “Red Box”. Well shit, if Blockbusters is this busy, I’m pretty sure the Red Box is slammed. He says, “Well, you’re already there.” How convenient for him! He doesn’t have to wait in line!
GIRLS, GET IN LINE!
So, being the good Mommy that I am, I tell the girls to get in line while I look around and pick some movies. We all take turns and I let them go pick theirs too.
WE HOLD UP THE LINE EVEN MORE
When I go to check out, the person checking me out discovers that the Strawberry Shortcake movie that Louise picked out was already sold. What does that mean and why is the box out there??? She tells me it’s because it’s overdue and they’ve sold it to the person who has not returned it and somehow the box managed to get back out on the floor. Louise has to go pick another one.
Now I’m sure every person in line behind me is pissed and thinking, shit, I have to wait for this little girl to pick out another movie! (You know how long it takes kids to make a decision). Finally, we get our movies and people are breathing a sigh of relief. Not my fault people! This time it’s Blockbuster!
So, here’s what I rented for me and Dick…Bruno, Under the Bombs (It’s won some awards and Dick likes these kind of movies.) and Michael Jackson’s This is It. The whole family has been wanting to see this. The girls had also picked out Anastasia and some other Strawberry shortcake movie.
We’re all set to get snowed in now!
