One of the walls of the girls room is completely blank and I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do to it. I thought maybe I would do four boxes of blue like from the brochure.
Not FEELIN’ it. Plus, that would require lots of taping and I’m not up for it.
CHALKBOARD TIME
The idea came to me when I was trying to explain to JUNE CLEAVER my dilemma of what to do with my blank wall: Create one big frame with a chalkboard in the middle. I’ve always wanted to try CHALKBOARD PAINT!
I bought the Krylon Chalkboard Paint at Walmart for $9.
I figure out where I want the chalkboard to be and tape it off.
(Again this requires a measuring tape, tape and pencil.)
I start to paint. The paint is thick and gooey.
The can recommends two coats so I apply 2 coats.
Blackboard paint is thick and harder to apply than regular paint. Because of this, sometimes it runs as well.
DAMN! WE HAVE SEEPAGE!
Even though I press the tape, it looks like the paint is still seeping through.
Horrible!

Since it’s better to focus on the solution rather than the problem, I decide to move forward. I can just paint over the edge of the blackboard with the border color to clean up the edges.
To avoid SEEPAGE again with my border paint, I crease the edge of the tape really hard hoping this time it won’t leak through.
It works!!
I pull off the tape and TA-DA! Clean lines!
I love it!
