Because my parents live less than a mile away from me, we’re always over there for dinner. Any time I’m lazy to cook, we call up my parents to see what they have. When I was in college, I would go home on weekends and raid my parents fridge to see what I could bring back to my apartment to eat for the week (Cause as we all know, college students don’t cook!).
As I have mentioned, my dad is a stupendous cook! And, at times when I lived far away, whenever I would come home to visit, my dad would prepare anything I was craving. Now, whenever my kids are craving anything, Grandpa would gladly fix anything they desire. Freddie is indeed a LOVER of food and I’ve definitely taken after him in this respect.
Here are some of the recent meals we’ve had at my parents house.
Steak and jumbo shrimp, hibachi style, over rice with sesame and zucchini.
My dad’s marinated grilled chicken is an all-time favorite, especially in the summer. We ALWAYS have this when we go picnic in the mountains.
Shrimp wontons…This is NOT the kind of wonton you get at your local Chinese restaurant.
The wonton skin on these are thin and incredibly yummy. It is so much better than the thick dough and tiny dab of meat in the Chinese wonton soups. This is NOT the way the Vietnamese make wonton.
Combined with noodles and some veggies and you have a SUPER YUM shrimp wonton noodle soup!
