Jane: Victim of Forever Sharp Knife

Around 7 years ago or so, I was DUPED into buying one of those FOREVER SHARP knives while shopping at Sam’s Club. I was minding my own business, shopping around, when I hear over the intercom…

“Attention all shoppers. We will be giving away a FREE pearing knife in aisle [whatever aisle-like I remember]. Don’t miss out today!”

I thought, what luck! They just happen to be giving away a free knife today! Of course, two weeks later while I was in Sam’s the same thing came on again over the intercom. Geez.

Anyway, they had the entire demonstration set up where they slice through a can and then at lightning speed through a tomato. They were offering NOT ONE but TWO sets of a paring knife, a filet knife, and what looks like a bread knife. One for you and one for a friend! And, it’s guarenteed FOREVER! Lifetime warranty. Like being enticed by infomercials, I was like…I gotta have this!

This isn’t the first time I’ve been sucked into an infomercial, thinking I can’t live without the advertised product at 3 in the morning. Impusively, when I was pregnant with Thelma, I also was duped into buying a Steam Cleaner…which I ended up taking up their money back guarantee and returning the damn thing. Didn’t work. But, these people are geniuses at advertising. They dupe you into thinking you MUST have a blender that also doubles as a vacuum. Ok, so not really…but you KNOW what I’m talking about.

Maybe they aren’t really geniuses and I’m just really naive. That was then and I hope I’m a LITTLE smarter now.

BREAD KNIFE IS DEADLY

Well, I do still use my knives and yes, they are still sharp. Too sharp actually.

As I was using the bread knife (I use it as a bread knife but I think they use it for everything.), it slipped and I jabbed my finger with those DEADLY SHARP teeth things on the end of the knife! It was SO deep it kept bleeding profusely! I went through one bandage already, soaking it fully and it was dripping still!

Luckily, the Louise had her bandaid collection and gave me one two of her coveted Littlest Pet Shop bandaids.

Thanks dear!

Forever Sharp indeed!

Anyone else duped into buying the Forever Sharp Knives???

haha i have these two, have yet to have problems though. going to try cut a tree down for christmas tonight with one.

You gotta see the irony here though with them claiming to be “surgical stainless steel”… surgery indeed

The bread knife was a godsend when it was the only thing (including saws) that would cut through the weed and debris that was wrapped round my boats anchor chain during the recent Qld Floods on the Burnett River at Bundaberg. Without this knife we would have been history before time (and that’ another story). It was used to cut the weed away from many other boats and was in high demand. Thanks ‘Forever Sharp’. Oh … it stills cuts the bread beautifully after 10 days of cutting away the flood debris

I got one from my mother who bought a set. I really like it, especially for bread.

To -Jane, Victim of Forever Sharp Knife,
Funny thing about knives; yes, they NEED to be sharp! What would be the value of a dull knife? It appears that since you don’t have the basic skills to deal with knives perhaps you should stick with the little white plastic knives!

Forever Sharp is a good knife, but competence counts!

Competence is the operative word. Perhaps, the clear plastic knives are the speed for this poor soul.

I was duped too, but not by getting cut. My “forever sharp” just is not sharp. I’m supposed to be able to send it in for a replacement but there is no place to send it. Does anyone know where to contact these people?

I too have been getting rust spots on my knives. Greatest knives I’ve ever owned, but I forsee having them replaced once in awhile.. :(

To have your knives replaced, google “forever sharp knives” and you will see twin towers trading in the results.

What you are all calling a bread knife really isn’t. Its meant for meat. Roast, ham etc… The split tip us good for grabbing sliced meat. Sure you could use it for bread, but the knife is a bit overkill for that
