Thelma is missing good ole southern grits so we decide to go get some. She also wants some alone time with me at the Starbucks. I get ready and we’re off. She wants to sit up front and because it’s close, I let her.
As we’re pulling out, I see a cop car with a cop standing next to it, talking on his radio. What luck. I’m going to have to think up some crazy story and fast. But then I see a few steps down from him are three more cops close by, with weapons pulled, hunched down like they’re going to ambush someone at their apartment. Being the naive country girl that I am, I’m thinking…is this some sort of training thing?
So I’m driving out super slow, super curious and super confused. As I’m inching around the corner of apartment concerned there’s going to be a shootout, there’s three MORE cops with weapons pulled, seemingly nervous as my car comes around the corner. I’m like, “I’m innocent!”. (You know how they can get nervous and trigger happy and I don’t want to be an innocent by-stander shot accidentally by cops on tonights 6 0′clock news.)
The cops are swatting at me to get keep moving and get out of the way but I’m still driving super slow because I’m wondering is this a drug bust? A domestic dispute where the husband is battering his wife? A drug cartel mafia dude? What’s going on? It all didn’t seem real because it looked just like in the movies!
Then I think, dayum, I should get some pictures and I have my big camera with me. Thelma wants us to just get out of there but I totally wanted to turn back and get some pictures of the cops and their guns. But, I didn’t want to then get pulled into all the drama, evidence and have angry cops at me wanting to take my camera away. Dayum, missed a great photo op.
I call Dick to warn him that they’re after him. HAHA. He says he hears a helicopter. Gosh I want to turn back, Thelma really doesn’t want to stick around and I guess I have to agree. Oh well. That was my excitement for the day. That and playing tennis with the hubby.
Sorry, I wish I had some pics of today for you.
