I just read that a new H1N1 flu vaccination is on its way to the public so am I in high anticipation like everyone else? I don’t know too many people who are excited to be getting a sharp needle in your arm, or leg, or anywhere else! Lucky for me that I don’t like needles otherwise I would be prone to being a heroine or crack addict. (j.k.)
Just so you know, no one in family ever usually gets vaccinated except my parents, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. Even still, I haven’t gotten the flu in MANY YEARS. A vaccination is pretty much a lesser degree of the strain of flu you are trying to avoid and they inject it in you! Why? So that your body will produce the necessary antibodies to protect you from it. So, in some cases, you end up getting the flu anyway.
So, now that our family, minus Dick, has gotten the Swine Flu, I wanted to know if I am now immune to the Swine and it turns out, YES! There is no need to torture myself and my poor kids twice. Once you’ve already gotten that particular virus strain in you, your body has already built up the necessary antibodies naturally to fight off the virus. I have IMMUNITY! I have IMMUNITY! I feel like I’ve won a round in Survivor or The Biggest Loser. Finally, a silver lining among the clouds.

I guess I won the lottery, because we have the swine flu here. Well my littlest has it so my guess is rest of us will soon enough. On another note I have heard a lot of negatives about that vaccine. From people in the medical field who say that it has been rushed to much and not enough study’s done on it.
Well that is my two cent on the “Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate” I am just glad now that I have won the lottery I don’t have to make that choice.

Oh yes! Thanks Sara for posting that. I wanted to mention that and totally forgot. I too would be concerned about how fast it took them to get this vaccine out and the proper testing to go along with it! Supposedly some vaccinations have the Mercury-based preservative and some do not…which is related to the big issue of vaccinations causing Autism. Sorry ur fam has the flu, but you’re right…kinda good too. Prayers for a speedy recovery over there!!!
