Fun with Jane & Dick

Although my tenant did a pretty good job cleaning, there are some things that tenants always miss.

AIR FILTERS

We always remind our tenants to change the filters in the house, and they could give two shits less what the air filter does. It never gets replaced. I don’t know why Dick has me even send them reminders. I KNOW they are not going to bother changing the air filters. THEY’RE RENTERS! Duh!

To punish him for his ignancy (You know, for being ignant!), I make him change the air filters. No, I’m just kidding. Well, I do make him change the filter but it’s not because he’s ignant.

Sometimes being short and physically incapable of simultaneously holding a vacuum and using its hose to suck up all the excess dust around an overhead air filter has it’s advantages.

SPACKLE

We’re spackling! The tenants left us a few dents in the wall…

Louise just loves to help me with everything. Such a good Mommy helper. Of course, whenever she does help, it lasts only a short while. Better than nothing though and I don’t want to discourage her want to help out.

I let her give it a try but since smoothness is of utmost importance, I have to finish the job…

The tenants screwed in holes in the molding of the fireplace! What?!?! You can hang stuff on the walls but screwing speakers into the fireplace molding??? WTF!?!?! That’s some bachelor boys for you. Incredible.

WE PAINT

There’s not much damage to the walls so we go around and touch up all the scuffs and scratches.

No, we don’t actually lick paint. It’s an optical illusion ya’ll!

THE APPLIANCES

Two of the dirtiest, nastiest places that are usually left unclean are the microwave and the oven. People never clean these! Disgust!!

Actually, the microwave looks WAY worse than this. I already cleaned the bottom when I remembered to take a picture to show you the FILTH!

Gloves are a MUST!

Luckily, the oven here is also a self-cleaning oven.

Four and half hours later…

Wipe off the ashes and t-da! Like new!

WE SWEEP/MOP

We have to sweep and mop constantly. There’s tons of dust and pet hair.

Cobwebs too!

THE FLOORBOARDS

The trim all over the house gets super dusty so we wipe it down.

Thelma has been feeling under the weather but helps out as well.

I love my girls!

But, all this just wiping of crap off floorboards is taking too long so after a while, I decide to just paint over the moldings since they’re scuffed up anyway and  need painting.
