Eight seems to be the year that your kids start transitioning into a more grown up phase in their life. Thelma seems more mature and she even tells me all the time:
“I really love being eight.”
I can’t believe she’s eight already. Just a couple of weeks ago, my 8-year old started calling me “MOM” instead of “MOMMY”. WHAAAAAAAT?????!?!?!?! HOLD UP! (Record comes to a screeching halt.)
I tell Thelma I won’t answer to Mom. It’s MOMMY!!!!
I know that sometimes I hate being called Mommy, but it’s only because there are some days where all I hear is Mommy this and Mommy that. Then, no one is allowed to call me Mommy for a least the next hour. But, I would much rather hear Mommy than MOM.
Now, I remember having this transition too where I thought I was too grown up to call my mom Mommy but I didn’t realized it would come so soon!
Every time she says “Mom!”, I cringe. Oh, where has my baby gone? Sniff sniff.
NEWBORN THELMA
This one she’s about 6 months old. So edible!
I love my fat baby. Missing that age.
(No, that does not mean I want more kids now.)
-Jane, Mommy not Mom!
