Ashereste is a Persian hearty soup that could easily be a meal on its own. This is an EXCELLENT soup for the cold, cold winter we’re having. Because this soup takes a while to make, I usually make a bunch and either have people over, give it away, or freeze it to eat another day.

Visiting Dick’s family in Orange County.
By Jane on April 22, 2012
You may remember me mentioning my big fat Persian family and many of them live in Orange County. Outside of Iran, Los Angeles is home to the largest population of Persians. Hence, maybe you’ve seen that new ridiculous reality show by Ryan Seacrest, the Shahs of Sunset, that feature over-the-top, super materialistic Persians. Let me [...]

Short hair. Long hair. Which do you prefer?
By Jane on November 15, 2010
My girls go back and forth between short and long hair. Usually, it’s summer when they want their hair short. But now, summer is over and the girls are wanting their hair to grow out. Slowly but surely, it’s getting there. Of course, by the time their hair becomes long again, it’ll be summer again. [...]

No, this Vietnamese Jane does not want to be an Engineer for the rest of her life.
By Jane on February 15, 2010
LIFE IS LIMITLESS Since leaving corporate America and not falling back on my degree and experience as an Engineer, I have found such creativity and freedom in that I’m still figuring out what I want to do “when I grow up”. Life is short. There are so many things that interest me, that I want [...]

By Jane on February 16, 2012
You know how kids become fanatical about celebrities such as Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus, the Twilight kids, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, etc? Well my Louise is the #1 fan of the host of the fashion makeover show How Do I Look‘s Jeannie Mai. If you’ve never watched the show, it is a fashion intervention where two [...]

Here comes the NEW GEEK SQUAD!
By Jane on April 25, 2010
We’re at BEST BUY and they, too, have gotten in on the CUSTOM BUGGY bandwagon. My kids love these cars and will snag one at every opportunity…even if we just need a couple of things that I can just as easily carry. However, Mommy gets suckered into pushing this heavy thing. I’m just wondering when they [...]

Your daily Benz: Pouty lips and actual tears!
By Jane on July 13, 2011
Sweet Benz is usually a happy, smiling chill baby. But sometimes, when he’s starting to get a little fussy, he does that stick-out-the-bottom lip pout. It’s the cutest thing and when you see it, you just want to give him anything his heart desires! It amazes me how babies innately know how to do this. [...]

Auntie and Niece…turban towel twins. Brusha, brusha, brusha!
By Jane on December 6, 2011
Lucy and Louise, after both just showered. Zay are turban towel tweenz! From when they were little girls, Thelma and Louise would always see Lucy and I with towels wrapped around our heads after a shower. But, when they were smaller, the towel would be too heavy for their little heads to hold. Their bobble [...]

The Motor City, the border, kilometers versus miles…and finally, Toronto.
By Jane on July 7, 2010
We’re in the Motor City! Home of the Pistons! And my old place of employment, where I lived some 9 or 10 years ago, working for Ford Motor Company. This is a picture of one of Ford’s plants but I didn’t work here. I worked in the offices close to headquarters. After traveling around for a [...]

Sometimes a tom boy but still a princess at heart. Thelma was cleaning up her room and well, it needed it! I guess dressing up makes cleaning more fun. She looks just absolutely radiant in this dress. More pics below…

No, it’s not one of Michael Jackson’s kids. It’s Thelma in a mask.
By Jane on November 4, 2009
This is a mask Lucy Lu gave me to wear for my Goth birthday party. Thelma is going to be using it for her costume for her skating competition coming up. She liked it so much she decided she was going to wear it out while we’re running errands.

Thunderstorm prompts half cut yard.
By Jane on May 28, 2010
Just when you thought there was nothing left to say about mowing my yard. This spring has brought us tons of thunderstorms. The grass gets super tall, super fast. I was on my mower cutting my grass the other day, knowing that there was a chance of thundershowers. That’s why I was out there mowing [...]

My post I just wrote on Co-sleeping was actually prompted by this very topic of babies sleeping through the night. I was trolling the web to find articles that discussed when is normal for babies to start sleeping through the night. I wanted to know if Benz was constantly waking up because he’s a breast-fed [...]
