Because we have somehow found ourselves to be running a car business, our ride changes constantly. It’s awesome because I get to drive all different kinds of cars and figure them out. Keeps my brain working since I have to remember how to release the trunk, how to turn on the windshield wipers, and how [...]

No, this Vietnamese Jane does not want to be an Engineer for the rest of her life.
By Jane on February 15, 2010
LIFE IS LIMITLESS Since leaving corporate America and not falling back on my degree and experience as an Engineer, I have found such creativity and freedom in that I’m still figuring out what I want to do “when I grow up”. Life is short. There are so many things that interest me, that I want [...]

Next door to the place we had sushi was this cake shop. I don’t bake at all unless you count using Duncan Hines box cakes and Nestle Tollhouse Mini cookies. However, I wish I could make cakes like these.

Osho on Love: Stop looking for that PERFECT man or woman. They don’t exist!
By Jane on February 9, 2011
I’m reading another Osho book in tandem with my Everyday Osho. It’s called Being in Love. I’m already in love but I still wanted to read this book since I bought it about two years ago and haven’t gotten around to reading it. Plus, it’s not just about loving a mate but being loving in general. [...]

Tesla: The 100% Electric Sports Car
By Jane on January 3, 2010
Orlando was driving me around the other day and along the way, this sports car catches my eye. (No, my husband does not get jealous that I have male friends. Being an engineer, many of my friends are dudes.)

Late Night Kitchen Cleaning and Laundry Folding.
By Jane on November 25, 2009
I’m a late night person. I have a very strange schedule these days. Working late into the night is one of my all time ultimate favorite times to work because it’s ABSOLUTELY quiet. No cars, no kids screaming “Mommy, Mommy”. I can get alot done at night. 12:30 AM KITCHEN CLEANING. It’s 12:30 AM and [...]

2010 World Cup: Soccer is in the air around Toronto.
By Jane on July 9, 2010
If you didn’t already know, Toronto is super multi-cultural and is a mega melting pot. Some say it’s like the NY of Canada. There’s Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Italy, Little Portugal, Greektown, etc. etc. etc. Almost everyone speaks at least two languages. Therefore, when you have something HUGE like the WORLD CUP, Toronto is well represented by [...]

Queenie Quotes: Words of wisdom from the Queen!
By Jane on January 8, 2011
Quotes (and words of wisdom) from my Aunt, Queen Latifa (aka The Chin). Queenie is a no-nonsense, blunt and to the point woman…texted to me from my sister while they are in Vietnam. “If I’m paralyzed, take me around all day. At least 8 hours a day…less if it’s cold. Don’t leave me at home. [...]

Homeschool Co-op Lunch: It’s a BBQ day!
By Jane on March 3, 2010
We’re having BBQ for lunch at our homeschool co-op today, provided by my fellow lunch lady, Laverne. Her husband smoked this pork for over 14 hours and it was extremely moist and tasty!

Soooo glad to have my babysitters, ummm I mean, my parents back!!
By Jane on January 24, 2011
YYYYYAAAAYYYY! Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac are finally back from their vacation Vietnam/Thailand/Japan!!! The girls are SUPER DUPER EXCITED to have their grandparents back. Every day, they would tell me how much they missed them. However, I may just be more excited than they are. You don’t know how overly joyous about this. #1 I [...]

A clean kitchen and good wine is a must.
By Jane on October 12, 2009
Cooking when the kitchen is dirty is just not fun. I just emptied the dishwasher, put away more dirty dishes, cleaned off the counters, have my wine and NOW I’m ready to cook! Anyone else must start off with a clean slate before a new mess is made? -Jane, Must-be-Clean Cook

Getting our energy out at the Gymnastics place.
By Jane on September 23, 2010
We have access to a great Gymnastics place that opens up their gym to the public and allows kids to run around and play at their HUGE facility for only $5 an hour per child! Believe me, an hour is plenty. We’re not interested in adding yet another activity to our schedules but I love [...]

My THREE kids. More of the girls and their bro.
By Jane on July 8, 2011
Although we didn’t plan it this way, having a baby years after the older sister has worked out superb for us. I have the best helpers and big sisters a Mommy could ever ask for. Thelma and Louise just adore their little bro. I’m still not used to saying I have THREE kids, not to [...]

Middle man down! Injury on the job by a machete-potato peeler.
By Jane on October 7, 2009
There are certain hazards that come with the job. It’s just goes with the territory. Today, I sliced off a chunk of my skin peeling potatoes. It’s just the risk one takes when one is feeding one’s family. You don’t even think about it. You just do it. Yet another hazard in the throws of [...]

I just discovered that I am also a poet. I found this poem I wrote in my newly found GREEN INDEX CARD HOLDER. Written probably about some boy I had a crush on. I must have thought the poem was pretty good otherwise I wouldn’t have taped it to this lovely green piece of construction [...]

Trying to avoid getting pushed off the ledge to see rooftop views of the G20 Protest.
By Jane on July 12, 2010
THE ROOF In search of some worthy protest excitement, we turn the corner and then we see a bunch of people heading up the stairs to this building nearby. My aunt doesn’t want to go but as you can see, MIA is urging her. She is successful. But once we get up there, we see [...]

Homemade chicken noodle soup to stay warm in this cold weather.
By Jane on January 16, 2010
My kids love chicken noodle soup, especially when it’s cold. You don’t need a ton of ingredients and can easily throw it together. This time, I just used what I had. Since I had some chicken thighs in the fridge, I used that to make the broth. It’s fattier, but unfortunately, that’s the fat that makes it tasty.

Sleepover time. Dark chocolate fudge mini-brownies included.
By Jane on June 13, 2010
Thelma starts to feel better after resting most of the day and assures me she feeling fine and wants to see her friends. Of course, I guess when it involves seeing friends, they always say they are “okay”. However, she DID actually look better. Maybe it was just a stomach bug after all. The girl’s [...]
