Ashereste is a Persian hearty soup that could easily be a meal on its own. This is an EXCELLENT soup for the cold, cold winter we’re having. Because this soup takes a while to make, I usually make a bunch and either have people over, give it away, or freeze it to eat another day.

Biking out the bar was easy, it’s going home that is the challenge.
By Jane on May 27, 2010
AT WILD WINGS We finally made it to Wild Wings on the bikes and without any casualties. Yay. However, the ride home concerns me more than the ride to get here. One would think that one of the BEST benefits to biking is the health benefits. It’s not. While being HEALTHY is important and good, [...]

The girls pretending to be preggars, like their Mommy. PREGGAR LOUISE Oh and the hat and arm warmers are from Thelma and Louise’s best friend, Kristen Stewart. They’re from a company called Litte Miss Matched, where everything “matches” but is not exactly alike. See how the stripes are different colors on the hands? Aren’t they [...]

Amidst rumors of a threesome with a prostitute, Beckham suing mad and “charitable”. I smell a spin.
By Jane on September 29, 2010
So I was on Perez (surprise, surprise) and the most recent story is: “Money From Beckham Prostitute-Lawsuit Will Go To Charity” If you didn’t know, Becks, being the HAWTNESS that he is (and only when he DOESN’T speak), is recently rumored to have had a THREESOME with a PROSTITUTE (Irma Nici). Of course, he’s TOTALLY [...]

G20 Summit “Peaceful Protests” at Queen Street.
By Jane on July 12, 2010
At the beginning of my trip in Toronto, all the news coverage was about the G20 and how Toronto has gone ALL OUT to secure their city and the multitude of World Leaders who are coming together for this Summit. The reason for the extensive security is because there were protests at the last G-summit [...]

Easy At-Home Hair Coloring with Sally’s Products.
By Jane on December 3, 2009
I started dying my hair when I was in college. I HATED my original hair color and wanted look different so started coloring my hair. It’s been all kinds of crazy shades of black, brown, red, orange, and even blond highlights. Although I used to get it professionally done, this is extremely pricey for one [...]

How to cut a Pineapple…as painful as it is.
By Jane on August 30, 2010
Occasionally, we will get a craving for pineapples. I prefer FRESH over CANNED (Healthier, no preservatives, not imported from China, no High Fructose Corn Syrup) and this is the season for it. However, cutting a fresh pineapple is a bit of a PAIN. Not too bad, but for someone like me who doesn’t usually like [...]

Thelma and Louise, awesome baby helpers.
By Jane on July 11, 2011
Because they girls are now 8 and 9, they’re big enough now to do many things themselves and they are fantastic helpers with the baby. That’s some good planning on mine and Dick’s part…NOT. Even still, the girls are the best helpers a mommy could ask for. Remember when I told you lazy busy parents [...]

By Jane on April 16, 2010
The weather in Metropolos has be ABSOLUTELY GEORGEOUS!! Who needs California? Not right now anyway. Metropolos usually has a good 2-3 weeks of Spring and then it’s HOT, MUGGY SUMMER-LIKE WEATHER. I love SPRING for it’s rebirth of all the flowers, plants and trees. This is a special tulip that I bought in Holland while [...]

Homeschooling: Not for everyone but DEFINITELY for us!!
By Jane on September 14, 2009
I know there are people who are out there that are like, “Homeschool?!?!? How do your kids get the “social” part of school?” My response is…”Besides letting the kids out of their cage for about an hour a day to stretch out their legs, we occasionally take them to the local grocery store to see how other humans interact.”

A MUST SEE: Madonna covers John Lennon’s, Imagine.
By Jane on January 9, 2011
WATCH, WATCH, WATCH! I actually like Madonna’s version of John Lennon’s, Imagine. Of course, the original remains untouchable. What are YOU waiting for? I need constant reminders like these. We get so caught up in our lives and our dramas that we FORGET. -Jane, Lover and Hoper for World Peace.

By Jane on February 21, 2011
So here’s the finale of the dinner I made the other day. I didn’t do a full post on the flounder but it’s quite easy. Just take your flounder and coat the outside with flour, turmeric, salt & pepper. Cook it in oil until cripsy on med-high. They come out beautifully golden, crispy on the [...]

If you haven’t watched the movie Akeelah and the Bee, you absolutely MUST! In it, there is a special quote about FEAR…How our biggest fear is not failure, but SUCCESS! We are the ones who let ourselves be paralyzed by our fears (which are based on nothing but thoughts…not on facts.). Here’s the quote from [...]
