In our house, red wine goes really well with cooking. Sometimes Dick will cook for us (excitement!) …when he’s craving Persian kabob that is. Therefore, every once in a while, I get the pleasure of having my hunka-hunka burnin’ love (Thanks Sharon O.) cook for me. Unfortunately, when Dick cooks…I still end up being an [...]

Skeletoes, finger toe shoes…the new Crocs?
By Jane on July 23, 2011
The girls and I were shoe shopping for some sneakers for Thelma and flipflops for Louise and came across the new, trendy Skeletoes made by Fila. If you have not seen these things, they are like finger socks for your feet except they are shoes! I first came across these when I saw them on [...]

The Chalk Guy: Julian Beever and his AMAZING pavement drawings.
By Jane on November 12, 2009
I just got a forward from Dick’s cousin. He’s a dentist who has a lot of time to send a bunch of email forwards to us. LOL (J.K. We love you!) I never read any long forwards. I am A.D.D. and like I said, wordy stuff with no pictures will NOT capture my attention. Short, [...]

Co-sleeping: People do it but just don’t talk about it. Dangerous or natural?
By Jane on February 7, 2012
All of my babies co-sleep/co-slept with me. For some reason this is considered taboo but actually, people are in the closet on this subject and just don’t talk about it. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that some of my friends do co-sleep with their kids. I’m not a sleep expert nor am I a doctor [...]

Lucy gives the girls “shoulder buddies”.
By Jane on June 12, 2011
Lucy happened upon these “Shoulder Buddies” while at the airport and bought them for the girls. They look like these little crazy haired little “pets” that sit on magnets. One is named “Goal” and the other “Crush”. Aren’t they cute? I just noticed, they don’t have any arms. So what you do is put your [...]

JANE’S MOVIE REVIEW: DEPARTURES. Winner of Best Foreign Language Film.
By Jane on January 28, 2010
While Lucy was in town visiting, she rented a movie for us to watch. OKURIBITO or in English…DEPARTURES. Winner of the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, this was an EXCEPTIONAL movie. Moving, tender, loving, funny…it is an emotional-filled movie that is food for the soul!! The story tells of a young cellist who’s [...]

No, this Vietnamese Jane does not want to be an Engineer for the rest of her life.
By Jane on February 15, 2010
LIFE IS LIMITLESS Since leaving corporate America and not falling back on my degree and experience as an Engineer, I have found such creativity and freedom in that I’m still figuring out what I want to do “when I grow up”. Life is short. There are so many things that interest me, that I want [...]

Yum yum Dim Sum. I’m craving Chinese Brunch.
By Jane on January 17, 2010
JANE AND LUCY LOVE FOOD Ok, so I noticed that alot of my posts are regarding food. Yes, this Jane and Lucy love food and we love to eat. Please refrain from any comments, Dick. Dick is somewhere laughing saying, “Yeah they do!”. Whatever! However, I think Lucy loves food even more than I do. [...]

Another accident in the back seat of the Benz. Rushing to get to our first day of Homeschool Co-op.
By Jane on September 29, 2011
A few weeks ago, our homeschool co-op started up again. Our first day and of course we’re rushing to get to school on time. Usually the first day (and only the first day) I’m on time. So, in order to make it on time, we had to rush to the grocery store so I could get [...]

Louise decided she wanted me to face paint for her birthday and so what does a Mom do but oblige. My dear friend, June, lends me her face painting kit…the same one we used for Halloween. And actually, I have some experience face painting from a few years ago where I used to do it [...]

Mommy I’m Hot, But I Want Money!!
By Jane on September 2, 2009
This is our second year having a lemonade sale. Last year the girls had great success and they’ve been begging me to do another one so they could earn some more money to redecorate their room. I’m just glad they want to earn it versus stealing it. Tomorrow is the first day of school for public school here and summer is officially over!
So, I agreed but I was not thrilled to sit in the hot, muggy sun (89F) and get eaten alive by pesky, blood thirsty mosquitos.
I contributed $9.43 to get their business going (which they gave me $6 initially), prepared the lemonade for them, and agreed to give of my time pro-bono. Thelma and Louise recruited a helper, their cousin, to assist as well.
I lose Dick’s keys and make PROPER use of Lucy’s “Apology” note pad she gave me.
By Jane on April 22, 2010
All day I’ve been pressure washing the deck, putting away stuff in the shed, cleaning, blowing leaves off the roof of the house, planting flowers…and in between all that, I lost Dick’s keys. (Because I went to get gas for my machines and didn’t put the keys back where they belong.) RUMMAGING THROUGH TRASH SUCKS [...]
Your Daily Osho: The Real Robbers…Doubt, suspicion, fear.
By Jane on February 19, 2011
If you haven’t watched the movie Akeelah and the Bee, you absolutely MUST! In it, there is a special quote about FEAR…How our biggest fear is not failure, but SUCCESS! We are the ones who let ourselves be paralyzed by our fears (which are based on nothing but thoughts…not on facts.). Here’s the quote from [...]

How much do you really need to be rich?
By Jane on August 11, 2010
That was the title of the article I came across this article on the homepage of Yahoo. You probably saw it too if Yahoo is your homepage. Click HERE for the article if you have’t seen it. However, before reading the article, I already knew the answer. Yes, I’m Mz. Smarty-pants Jane. “Rich” is not [...]

Not exactly roughing it for a third world country.
By Jane on March 1, 2011
The last time I was in Vietnam was over ten years ago and alot has changed since then. What used to be rustic and poor-looking has turned into a metropolitan nouveau city with plenty of tourism. From the pictures of the hotels that my family stayed in, they weren’t exactly “roughing it” in any rustic-type [...]

Homeschooling: Not for everyone but DEFINITELY for us!!
By Jane on September 14, 2009
I know there are people who are out there that are like, “Homeschool?!?!? How do your kids get the “social” part of school?” My response is…”Besides letting the kids out of their cage for about an hour a day to stretch out their legs, we occasionally take them to the local grocery store to see how other humans interact.”

After the modeling shoot, we stop to smell the fall air.
By Jane on November 7, 2010
After the modeling shoot, the girls discover that there is a scenic area with pond with walking path. “Mommy, can we go check out the pond?” My first inclination is to say NO because it’s cold and I thought about ALL the things I still needed to get done since we spent a lot of [...]

I saw this beautiful Vintage Motorcyle while walking around Queenie’s neighborhood. It just looked PICTURE PERFECT sitting on this old front porch. I don’t know what kind this is but I love the RETRO look of it. Is that a couch cushion being used as a seat though? Although I love it, I just love [...]

As I mentioned, Louise has been talking about her birthday for quite some time now. Last year, we were suppposed to have a party for her but she ended up getting sick and we had to cancel. Therefore, this year, I told her she could have the party she wanted, but still keeping it small [...]
