Louise was not feeling well at all the other day, can you tell? Girlfriend had a cough and stomach ache. Since it was a co-op day, Thelma went to class while Louise just rested at home. Most of the day Louise spent in bed. However, it was such a beautiful day, too beautiful to let go to [...]

Ashereste Recipe: Persian Vegetable and Bean Hearty Soup. So great for cold weather.
By Jane on February 17, 2010
Ashereste is a Persian hearty soup that could easily be a meal on its own. This is an EXCELLENT soup for the cold, cold winter we’re having. Because this soup takes a while to make, I usually make a bunch and either have people over, give it away, or freeze it to eat another day.

This Jane hates to iron but using my CORDLESS iron makes it better.
By Jane on March 5, 2010
I know there are people out there who find ironing to be extremely relaxing and meditational. Although I can understand this train of thought, I’m still not a fan. I don’t iron. Plain and simple. My family walks around in wrinkled clothes all the time. It’s just not one of my priorities.

Prince of Persia Review. Jake Gyllenhaal can be my Prince anyday.
By Jane on June 18, 2010
Back to being on good terms, we take the kids to go see Prince of Persia. I wonder who picked this one? Actually, we all wanted to see it. I take out my camera to get some pics. Dick sees me and tells me to put it away. “They’re going to think you’re video taping. [...]

I didn’t eat anything prior to us going to the Halloween party so I was starving and craving some sushi. So, Dick and I ventured to one of our favorite sushi bars downtown after we left the party. What I like about this place is that it has a loungy feel. It’s like a neighborhood hang out where those who live nearby [...]

The Girls find their Best Friends of Gotham City.
By Jane on December 8, 2010
This is Dick’s good friend, Mr. Bean, who Dick has known for over 20 years. However, since having kids, they had not seen each other in a long while. So we got our kids together and they immediately the kids just connected. They all played like they’ve known each other their whole lives.

Enjoying the warm weather: A pier and simple park with a great lake view.
By Jane on February 23, 2010
Since the weather was around 60F and sunny, we took full advantage. Along with my parents Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac (not pictured because they’re walking laps around the track), we head with the kids and the dogs to a simple yet beautiful park and a most fabulous PIER. I love piers!

As I may have mentioned, one of the great benefits of homeschooling is that you can take it on the road. This is one of the main reasons why we homeschool.

Your Daily Benz: Mommy and Daddy Vomit Victims.
By Jane on August 24, 2011
Benz is such a sweet, innocent thing that you just can’t be upset with him at all, ever. Seriously, look at this yummy, chubby thing. I totally LOVE baby’s hands and feet. So yummilicious like mini sausages. Benz is like a little monkey the way his feet clasp together. It’s like his feet are saying [...]

Chinese Mom backpedals after controversial Wall Street Journal article.
By Jane on January 19, 2011
It seems Amy Chua, that militant Chinese lady who wrote the article for the Wall Street Journal “Why Chinese Mothers are Superior”, got quite the backlash at her uber-extreme strict rules for raising children and why she thinks Chinese (and moreso Asian) kids are “more successful” than Western kids. Click HERE for my comments on her [...]

Article: “Why Chinese Mothers are Superior”: Words from a militant mom who is full of crap.
By Jane on January 14, 2011
One of my dear friends sent me a link to an article about “Why Chinese Mothers are Superior”. Already from the title, I knew what this article was going to be about but I read it anyway to see what kind of crap was going to come spewing out of this woman. She starts out [...]

My hydrangeas, before the storm.
By Jane on June 22, 2010
I love hydrangeas. They are so beautiful. Here are some shots of my hydrangeas before we had that crazy hale storm. My mom, who is an avid gardener, gave these to me when they were just wee little things. Now they’ve gotten quite large and make my yard look so whimsical. She tells me you can [...]

Em discovers Jean Diapers on a late night run to Walmart.
By Jane on August 26, 2010
My whole family is a family of LATE-NIGHTERS, minus Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, so, it’s great to have a 24-hour Super Walmart that is accessible to us. What are we looking to buy? Nothing in particular. Em spots Jean Diapers! “Sick!” Spoken like a true teenager. I just think it’s funny that my 18-year old [...]

The Motor City, the border, kilometers versus miles…and finally, Toronto.
By Jane on July 7, 2010
We’re in the Motor City! Home of the Pistons! And my old place of employment, where I lived some 9 or 10 years ago, working for Ford Motor Company. This is a picture of one of Ford’s plants but I didn’t work here. I worked in the offices close to headquarters. After traveling around for a [...]

Salmon with Dirty Brown Rice: Yeah I’m grocery shopping in my PJ’s.
By Jane on January 15, 2010
Since I was already in my pajamas for pajama day at our homeschool co-op, I decided that I was SO COMFORTABLE that I did not want to change out of my outfit, even though I had some grocery shopping to do later that day. Yes, it’s FREAKIN’ COLD! Ok, so I did get a few [...]

I Hate Fucking Making the Juice!
By Jane on August 31, 2009
Recently I’ve reverted to dropping f-bombs like the old days of working in manufacturing car plants. Well, maybe not as bad as before, but I find great satisfaction in using this word to express myself. I know it’s considered vulgar and profane but it’s so FUCKING expressive. It gives just the uummph I want for emphasis!
