Since the girls fell asleep while I was finishing up our Sponge Bob pumpkin, they were surprised to see that Mommy didn’t screw up the carving job. I’m glad my “customers” were happy with their order.

Jane refuses to be FORCED to pay the Smartphone data package and opts for a NON-SMART phone.
By Jane on March 14, 2011
So, I’ve had my LG phone for about 2 years now and I HATE it! The touch screen sucks and I fat finger and call random people all the time. Dick has been bugging me to get a new phone…imagine that! A husband who has to beg his wife to buy something new! Well, I [...]

If you’ve never tried Lenny’s Subs, you really MUST. It’s so deliciously yummy. I don’t really even know why…it’s so simple yet I absolultely crave a good Lenny’s Sub. However, when I’m too lazy to leave my bubble and head to the nearest Lenny’s, I make my own version of it at home. Using a [...]

If you have not met Monk, you’re about to now. Dick gave Monk to Thelma a couple of years ago for Christmas. Bought from Justice Girls, she came hugging one of those comfy matching monkey flannel blankets. Monk is sassy and is one of the most traveled Monkey stuffed animals I know because Thelma just [...]

Pomelo: The sweet alternative to Grapefruit.
By Jane on January 30, 2011
What is a Pomelo? It’s the sweeter version of a grapefruit and about three times the size of an orange. I guess Walmart spells it “pummelo”. Same thing. They’re a little pricey (About $2.50-$3.00 each) but are really yummy. I don’t like grapefruit. It’s too bitter for me. But, the pomelo is a great alternative [...]

Caught in the rain, in the convertible!
By Jane on September 23, 2010
Towards the end of summer, we were at the pool for one of our final times to enjoy it while it was still open. We were only there for about 30 minutes when the dark clouds start rolling in. Still savoring the moment, the girls and Dick were enjoying their peaches. Not sure why she [...]

Just an average day in the life of Jane and Dick.
By Jane on October 7, 2009
Our days are not like most people’s. We don’t have 9-5 jobs. We don’t send our kids to school. So, here’s a glimpse into a day in the life of Jane and Dick. Every day is different, which makes for a less boring, less monotonous life. We started our day at 11:15am this particular morning [...]
From driving a brand new 2011 Lexus to a 20-year old 1991 Honda Accord.
By Jane on April 26, 2011
So, one day, you may see me rollin’ around in a brand new Lexus IS250, the next, you may see me riding around in this thing. A 1991 Honda Accord. Pretty Swexy, no??? My parents bought this car brand new in 1991 have had it ever since. And although it’s not a LOOKER with the [...]

Please don’t eat me, I love you!

Sweet Louise donning one of my favorite T-shirts. I love seeing my girls in comfy, oversized T-shirts. Looks way better on her than me anyway. Too tight. Is this pig not the cutest thing ever? I’m talkin’ about the one wearing the t-shirt. Hehe. -Jane, Comfy T-shirt Lover

New beds for the girls. With the frames still in boxes, the girls have fun with the bedding.
By Jane on December 28, 2010
As you may know, the girls share a room and they also share a lounging type futon bed. We love that bed as it is quite comfortable. I also am a firm believer that making kids share a room makes them closer and teaches them to share early on. Lucy and I shared a room [...]

Abstract Orchids with Punches of Color.
By Jane on March 10, 2011
Are you sick of orchids yet? If not, here are more. I took some of the ones I already edited and added punches of color to make them more abstract. I’ve added some of the original RAW/unedited pictures to show you what they looked like before I put my Ahhh-tist touch to them. AN AHHH-TIST’S [...]

Thelma was inspired to do a painting the other day. She found this extra piece of plywood I had in our shed and painted it white. Working on her masterpiece. Truly an artist at work. It’s almost like she’s doing a dance. Go on girl! Get that creativity out! -Jane, Mother of Artistic Thelma.

Translations from Aussie to American English.
By Jane on April 15, 2010
Whilst (Aussies say this alot, which is where Lucy picked it up from when she lived in Melbourne and has permeated into this Jane’s vocabulary.) my cousin was here visiting us from Australia, it was difficult understanding her at times. Not because of her accent, which is supercool, but because they have their own vocabulary! [...]

Tall Caramel Macchiato, extra shot, in a for-here mug please?
By Jane on September 28, 2009
Today, at Starbucks, I didn’t distract myself with a book or crossword puzzle or cigarette like I usually do. I just sat there and enjoyed the view, happy to be out of the confines of my house, breathing the fresh air and away from the memories of illness that has plagued us lately.

Jane, amateur haircutter, strikes again.
By Jane on May 20, 2010
The boys are in need of a bit of a haircut. So, since I cut J LO’s hair the last time I was in LA, she wanted me to cut the boys hair. As I have said before, I’m definitely no professional and I’ve never been to beauty or hair school. I’ve cut women’s, girls’ [...]

Three years ago we were blessed to have Monk join our family when Dick gave her to Thelma as a gift for her 5th birthday. Thelma reminded us today by having us celebrate Monk’s birthday.

Birthday anticipation started months and months ago but just kicked into high gear.
By Jane on December 1, 2009
The girls always talk about what they will do for their birthdays sometimes almost 6 months in advance but when it gets down to the last 2 months, the anticipation is high. They start asking how many days until their birthday and planning every detail of it. This year…I want a pinata. This year…I’m inviting [...]

What are you going to get your sister for her birthday?
By Jane on December 10, 2009
Curious, I asked Louise about Thelma’s upcoming birthday. “So, what do you want to get Thelma for her birthday?” “I don’t know. Well…there is ONE thing …” “What is it?”

Homemade chicken noodle soup to stay warm in this cold weather.
By Jane on January 16, 2010
My kids love chicken noodle soup, especially when it’s cold. You don’t need a ton of ingredients and can easily throw it together. This time, I just used what I had. Since I had some chicken thighs in the fridge, I used that to make the broth. It’s fattier, but unfortunately, that’s the fat that makes it tasty.
