Dick’s family just recently relocated to LA from Germany. If you’ve ever seen the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Dick’s family kinda reminds me of that. They are bold, not shy to speak their mind, always talking and talking loudly, always having a great time laughing and dancing, and eating.

Fulfilling my bet with Thelma: Camping in the Minivan
By Jane on September 16, 2009
Thelma made a bet with me that if she was able to fast and abstain from eating for a day, I would then camp out in the car with her overnight, in our yard. This is not something I’m too excited about doing and I thought hoped maybe she would forget about it but alas, [...]

Being Green. I’m not talking about the environment, I’m talking color!
By Jane on April 8, 2011
It was green day at our homeschool co-op again. Usually it falls on Saint Patrick’s Day but we had to delay it due to maintenance being done at the school. Even still, our co-op is about having fun and GREEN DAY was still on the agenda. Yay! Because my girls love to dress up, [...]

Stripe bass and pickerel for dinner!
By Jane on July 18, 2010
So we pan fried the striped bass, which tastes great with rice. The pickerel was steamed and topped off with a soy-ginger sauce and green onions. I understand now why the pickerel is so coveted. Talk about YUMMY! -Jane, Fish Lover.

The kids want some new furniture…
By Jane on December 14, 2009
This nouveau furniture store is right around the corner from Lucy’s house. The kids love it but somehow, I just don’t think the style suites my house. I do love the white couch and chair that is behind Thelma.

Jane: Non-fan of randomly discarded gum.
By Jane on September 8, 2010
Unbeknownst to me as I stepped leisurely out of my car, I put my foot down right on a JUICY, STICKY GLOB of GUM. Freakin’ A!!! On top of that, I drop my FREE COFFEE CARD from Starbucks right on it as well. Double FREAK! Gum is only good when you’re chewing it, otherwise, it’s [...]

Dear Santa. I hope you “egxist”.
By Jane on December 26, 2010
Louise is very inquisitive and very smart. She’s very logical and thinks in detail and again, this year I was posed with the question “Is Santa real?”. I was already faced with this question last year (Click HERE for that post.) Oh the dilemma! Again, I responded this year with “Well, I’m not sure honey. [...]

Monk and Ducky: Long time no see.
By Jane on February 12, 2010
Just thought you might be missing Monk and Ducky. It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned them. They’re still around. They’re just chillin’ with their friends. -Jane, Grandma to Monk & Ducky.

Our first snow this year! It WAS a Winter Wonderland in Metropolis!
By Jane on December 5, 2009
Thankfully, Thelma and Louise got to see some snow today. They were starting to think it didn’t exist. Metropolis doesn’t snow often but it used to. Growing up, I remember the snow coming up to my knees…albeit, my knees were closer to the ground then. Still, we got snow and it was always SUPER exciting [...]

Homemade chicken noodle soup to stay warm in this cold weather.
By Jane on January 16, 2010
My kids love chicken noodle soup, especially when it’s cold. You don’t need a ton of ingredients and can easily throw it together. This time, I just used what I had. Since I had some chicken thighs in the fridge, I used that to make the broth. It’s fattier, but unfortunately, that’s the fat that makes it tasty.

I just realized while doing the Sunday United Crossword puzzle that “opinion” comes from “opine” – to think. Yes, slowly but surely… -Jane, Lifetime Student

I’m not sure why Thelma persists to torture her little brother by putting him in girls clothes, or now, a long black-haired wig. Such the jokester she is. It’s not that she even means him any malice…she adores him. And it’s not that she wants a little sister. I think she just thinks it’s hilarious [...]

PAINTING FRENZIE: The front porch gets an uplift too.
By Jane on May 11, 2010
It’s spring and since it’s still somewhat nice outside and not too hot, I like to do some work around the house. Not only did the back porch need some lovin’, the front porch does too! See where I went pressure-washer crazy?

By Jane on March 3, 2010
I spotted this pimp car the other day. A green Toyota Celica, suited up with a great body kit. You almost can’t even tell it’s a Celica. Nice!! -Jane, Sports Car Fan.
