Ashereste is a Persian hearty soup that could easily be a meal on its own. This is an EXCELLENT soup for the cold, cold winter we’re having. Because this soup takes a while to make, I usually make a bunch and either have people over, give it away, or freeze it to eat another day.

Halloween shopping at Spirit Halloween.
By Jane on October 21, 2010
Lucy was in town over the weekend so we took the girls shopping for costumes since they have been wanting Halloween costumes for the last 2 months. Louise has been checking them out online and has already changed her mind 3 times…each time telling me she’s ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NOT going to change her mind. Good thing [...]

By Jane on May 5, 2011
Louise often runs with her Daddy and wanted to join a running group. Dick found one called Girls on the Run. So, for about 8 weeks or so, Louise had been going twice a week to practice. At the end of that term, they were to run a 5K…which is a little over 3 miles!! Three miles!!! I’m [...]

Dick has a soccer injury: ELEPHANTITIS concerns ensue.
By Jane on August 14, 2010
Dick was recently in Gotham City again and while working, he took some time off to play soccer with the guys. I always worry about Dick playing soccer because it is quite an aggressive sport, even if only the feet are involved. Dick is super competitive (He claims he could have been a Soccer Star. [...]

By Jane on November 2, 2011
For Halloween, we went over to my friend and partner in crime, June Cleaver’s new house. You may remember, we spent last Halloween together too. June is in the midst of making some of her super yummy Chicken Bacon Chowder and Cheddar Biscuits. Also here is Confuscia, a dear friend that I met through Benz [...]

By Jane on December 22, 2011
I had a photo shoot the other day where this time, I was the photographer. One of my clients had contacted me to update their family photos because their family had expanded from having two boys (one biological and one adopted since he was weeks old) to just having adopted a daughter from Ethiopia. I [...]

Back into the groove. Homeschooling at Starbucks again.
By Jane on September 29, 2011
Because the weather was so nice, and because I can’t seem to stay away, the whole family ventured to Starbucks to homeschool. It’s days like this that make homeschooling more fun and I don’t have to be muttering under my breath between gritted teeth, “I hate teaching, I hate teaching!” Usually, I’m saying that when [...]

McDonald’s Sausage Biscuit and Gravy
By Jane on October 9, 2009
All of a sudden I get a sudden craving today for a McDonald’s sausage biscuit and gravy. I haven’t had one of these in maybe over a year, probably longer. Honestly, I don’t know how long…that’s how long it’s been. I know, I know…not the healthiest breakfast in the world but that’s why I had [...]

The Best Green Tea Ice Cream EVAH!
By Jane on July 13, 2010
While I was at the protest, my uncle took the girls to his house and bribed them with what else but ICE CREAM. Being that Toronto is a very international city, we’re able to buy REAL green tea ice cream from the Korean/Japanese grocery store. I say real because I have bought green tea ice [...]

Video streaming Oscar’s bowel movements??? Really???
By Jane on November 29, 2009
Oscar has this unique way of sitting. It always looks like he’s ready to take a dump. Lucy says it’s JUST the way he sits. Fine. But the dang thing FARTS ALOT so maybe he’s stopped up or something and sits like that because he’s constipated. Just a theory Lucy.

Jane has no qualms about child labor. Everyone helps clean the house!
By Jane on August 23, 2011
We had spent our first night at Mr. Bean’s house so the kids could play. The next day, it was time to get to work on our rental property. The first thing we always do when we stay at one of our properties is give it a good cleaning. I don’t like to stay where other [...]

Good Forward: Unique and Interesting Shopping Bags
By Jane on December 12, 2010
Someone had sent me what I would consider a “good forward” (brief, amusing, and has pictures) a long time ago and I just came across it while performing my routine, quarterly (it seems) clean-out of my e-mail Inbox. It’s of unique shopping bags. Whoever created these were quite creative and definitely had a sense of [...]

Pregnancy woes: Can’t sleep. Itchy Stomach.
By Jane on December 29, 2010
The sleepless nights have already started. It’s 4:30am. For some reason, I was under the illusion that this wouldn’t happen until after the baby is born. Tossing and turning in discomfort. And, why does your stomach have to itch so dang much. -Jane, Sleepless & Itchy.
