Ashereste is a Persian hearty soup that could easily be a meal on its own. This is an EXCELLENT soup for the cold, cold winter we’re having. Because this soup takes a while to make, I usually make a bunch and either have people over, give it away, or freeze it to eat another day.

Jihad Jane? Definitely a case of mistaken identity here.
By Jane on March 10, 2010
Apparently this JANE was conspiring with terrorists and was hired to kill that controversial Swedish political cartoonist Lars Vilks. JIHAD JANE. I don’t know anything about him or her but reading “Jihad Jane” on CNN.com completely caught my eye. Click HERE for the full story. -Jane, Not Jihad Jane.

New Toilet Seat Cover with Kids Lid!!
By Jane on March 29, 2011
It was time to get a new toilet seat cover for one of our toilets. The old one was still in great shape, except, there was a chip on the seat that made it look like poo was stuck to it. Every time I looked at it, it was my first thought too. But seriously, [...]

Homemade Sushi: Jane’s Tunafish Rolls. Not the raw kind. The kids LOVE it!
By Jane on February 28, 2010
My kids love sushi. They’ll eat the raw pieces of fish too. But, we don’t do raw at home. Many years ago, one of my friends introduced me to Roasted Seasoned Seaweed. This stuff is DA BOMB! You can eat it plain or with rice…or with my homemade recipe for sushi at home. It’s easy, [...]

Honey, I wanna be a desperate housewife!
By Jane on January 14, 2012
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I’m a blogging LOSER these days and APOLOGIES! I can’t seem to find the time or energy to blog these days. (That being said, I’m so appreciative that our loyal Jane and Dick fans still visit our site daily and even read our old stories!) With [...]

Your official SNEAK PEAK at our new Art Lounge in Gotham City.
By Jane on April 21, 2011
We haven’t officially opened our doors yet but we have been working long and hard on yet another business venture. Aside from our rental properties, we also have a couple of commercial spaces uptown. In fact, they are right around the corner and in the same building as our Studio Condo. This was strategic planning [...]

Getting our energy out at the Gymnastics place.
By Jane on September 23, 2010
We have access to a great Gymnastics place that opens up their gym to the public and allows kids to run around and play at their HUGE facility for only $5 an hour per child! Believe me, an hour is plenty. We’re not interested in adding yet another activity to our schedules but I love [...]

By Jane on May 19, 2011
Introducing our new SON!!! I can’t tell you how over the moon we are that he has finally arrived. And because our family can’t do anything the “normal” way, it’s quite a story (to come). But first, I thought you would like to see him. At 6lbs 4 oz, 19 inches long and coming about [...]

Chinatown for a late dinner with Queen Latifa and the gang.
By Jane on July 8, 2010
After I say hi to my uncle and his family and unload our things at my uncle’s house in Mississauga, I head downtown to see my aunt Queen Latifa and my cousins. First thing we do? The girls and I have only eaten the snacks we packed and some junk food along the way so [...]

A clean kitchen and good wine is a must.
By Jane on October 12, 2009
Cooking when the kitchen is dirty is just not fun. I just emptied the dishwasher, put away more dirty dishes, cleaned off the counters, have my wine and NOW I’m ready to cook! Anyone else must start off with a clean slate before a new mess is made? -Jane, Must-be-Clean Cook

Potential blood clot causes THIRD BALL.
By Jane on August 17, 2010
Dick’s “member” has now ceased swelling and is looking more normal. Except, there is now a THIRD ball. Jes, a turd ball! (That was for my dear sis. She can appreciate the humor in it.) After doing a lot of research online, Dick thinks it could be a blood clot. My entire family now knows [...]

Unless I take pictures of myself, I would never have any. Now you know why most pictures of me have one arm extended and half of my face is lopped off. Of course, Dick says it’s because my head is so big and only half of it would fit on the camera. Such the comedian [...]
A little snow is not going to keep us from going out. It’s our 14-year anniversary!
By Jane on February 1, 2010
Yes, it’s been 14 years since our very first date and we go out to celebrate. Being that we had this “snow storm”, no one is out and many places are closed.

Middle man down! Injury on the job by a machete-potato peeler.
By Jane on October 7, 2009
There are certain hazards that come with the job. It’s just goes with the territory. Today, I sliced off a chunk of my skin peeling potatoes. It’s just the risk one takes when one is feeding one’s family. You don’t even think about it. You just do it. Yet another hazard in the throws of [...]

Birthday anticipation started months and months ago but just kicked into high gear.
By Jane on December 1, 2009
The girls always talk about what they will do for their birthdays sometimes almost 6 months in advance but when it gets down to the last 2 months, the anticipation is high. They start asking how many days until their birthday and planning every detail of it. This year…I want a pinata. This year…I’m inviting [...]

Family from LA, Austrailia, and Toronto visit us in Metropolis.
By Jane on March 23, 2010
As I said, I have a ton of family visiting me. My cousin, M.I.A., is visiting from Australia. The last time I saw her was 20 years ago when I was 15 and she was 5. Here we are at Niagara Falls. It’s 1989 and yes, I had permed hair back then and stone washed [...]

The girls are at the age where doing dishes is now part of their chores.
By Jane on September 16, 2010
My lovely ladies were helping me out with the dishes the other day. They’re getting older and as such, I want them to start helping out. In addition to making their beds, cleaning up after themselves, setting the table and keeping the garage/classroom clean, dishes is now also a part of their chores. Since Dick and [...]

Duncan Hines for this sweets junkie preggar.
By Jane on April 14, 2011
I don’t typically have a sweet tooth but pregnancy has changed all that. I’m craving sweets all the time and my girls are constantly ratting me out to my doctor and my friends. “Mommy eats a lot of sweets!” Sadly, I can’t really deny it. It’s true. We were at my parents house the other [...]
