By Jane on February 21, 2011
It’s been a while since I did a recipe post. Sorry, they take a while to write so it’s hard to find the time. But, the other day I made some Crispy Flounder, Baked Butternut Squash and Potato Crusted Basmati Persian Rice for my family. I was going to put the entire recipes for all [...]

They’re not little pumpkins, they’re Persimmons! Fruit of the Gods.
By Jane on November 4, 2009
It looks like a tomato or a mini-pumpkin but actually this sweet, crunchy fruit is well loved by Asians and Persians, especially my family. It’s fall and my parents’ Persimmon tree is full of Persimmons. One year, they had close to 500 of these orange beauties on ONE tree! Then we had a late frost [...]

Venturing out to the grocery store in the snow.
By Jane on January 6, 2011
We needed a few things from the grocery store, anticipating that we might get snowed in. With the way the snow was coming down, it was a possibility. Dick wanted to take the Caddie. He loves that car. Louise volunteers to dust off the snow on the car. The drive out of our neighborhood. Of [...]

Homemade chicken noodle soup to stay warm in this cold weather.
By Jane on January 16, 2010
My kids love chicken noodle soup, especially when it’s cold. You don’t need a ton of ingredients and can easily throw it together. This time, I just used what I had. Since I had some chicken thighs in the fridge, I used that to make the broth. It’s fattier, but unfortunately, that’s the fat that makes it tasty.

I’m not sure if I told you guys this, but added to my list of “skillz” is eyebrow plucker. I tweeze my brows cause I don’t have enough to wax. Neither does my sister Lucy. This last time when Lucy was in town visiting me, I mentioned, as I often need to: “Ummmm, ju brows [...]

By Jane on February 16, 2011
For Christmas, my cousin from Australia (MIA), you know the one who visited me and we went mechanical bull riding, sends the girls an awesome Science kit called Mind Blowing Science. The girls have been itching to do the projects ever since Christmas and yes, I’m just getting to it now. Because I’m thinking this could [...]

Biking and Hill-Climbing Preggar.
By Jane on January 21, 2011
The other day, we were blessed with unseasonable warm weather for this time of the year so we decided to take our bikes out and enjoy it! Plus, we had to go get some groceries. The hill next to our house was still iced over in parts so we had to be super careful. Dick’s [...]

How to get a perfect soft boiled egg.
By Jane on October 13, 2010
If you are not a fan of hard boiled eggs, you should try soft boiled eggs. A soft boiled egg is an egg that is boiled only to the point that the white is fully cooked but the yolk is still liquid and tasty. Over the weekend, on a fresh beautiful morning, I made Dick [...]

Dick, as usual, is always trying to get out of having to change a diaper but he loves to hog the baby. After hogging the baby one day, he comes running to me saying, “Baby wants Mommy!” and darts off to go back outside where he was working out. I’m thinking Benz is wanting BOOBIE [...]

By Jane on July 30, 2011
We brave the weather and head to the pool with our besties despite it being a stormy, rainy day. June Cleaver and her kids come hang with us for a few hours. And here’s Fanny Mae, hanging with Benz as usual. And actually, without the sun, we don’t have to worry [...]

From FRUMPY to SEXY black dress.
By Jane on January 29, 2010
So, as I mentioned, this is the year for organization in our house. I’m tired of just storing all this stuff when someone else can probably make better use of it. We’re still clearing out our closet and getting rid of stuff we don’t wear anymore. (Remember I had already started clearing out stuff before [...]

I detest mopping. Really hate it. I hate that dirty wet mop head that you have to constantly clean because it makes your water so dirty. What’s the point in mopping if you’re going to use dirty water? So, I don’t mop often. I may sweep daily but mopping happens once in a blue moon, [...]

Salmon with Dirty Brown Rice: Yeah I’m grocery shopping in my PJ’s.
By Jane on January 15, 2010
Since I was already in my pajamas for pajama day at our homeschool co-op, I decided that I was SO COMFORTABLE that I did not want to change out of my outfit, even though I had some grocery shopping to do later that day. Yes, it’s FREAKIN’ COLD! Ok, so I did get a few [...]

Inspiration of the day: From Hardship comes growth.
By Jane on September 9, 2010
Cold and hunger are the forces that produce warmth and fullness. From poverty we can become rich. Sickness spurs our search for health. Health or wealth by birth is not ours – it is our parent’s gift to us. As such, it will disappear sooner or later. You must be the creator of your own [...]

Pathetic Oscar waiting for his Mommy.
By Jane on April 11, 2011
My sister’s dog, Oscar, is a total Momma’s boy. Every time my sister leaves him at the house to go somewhere, he sits pathetically…waiting patiently for his Mommy to return. Look at his sad, timid face! So sweet… And so pa-te-tic! Yippeeee! I hear Mommy coming! As soon as he heard the car pull up [...]

The family goes to see Avatar. It does not disappoint!!
By Jane on March 3, 2010
I have been wanting to see Avatar long before it came out but haven’t been able to go see it until now. Of course, by now, it’s raked in a record $2.5 Billion worldwide and James Cameron will continue to rake in bazillions of dollars until long after he’s gone. I really didn’t know what [...]
