Like everyone else in Metropolis, I was out getting groceries in anticipation of the “WINTER STORM” coming our way. Dick was driving back from Gotham City and although I was somewhat worried he would get caught in the storm, the snow had just started. He suggested I hit the Blockbuster and get us some movies. [...]

Annoyed by a Kiosk Vendor who oils, combs and straightens my hair.
By Jane on March 7, 2011
So, we’re doing our best to make it to the Orchid Show and not be distracted by all the shops and plethora of THINGS. (Yes, I said plethora…what of it?) Then, one of those Kiosk Vendors who has the hair products/wigs/hair appliances gives me a “free sample“…a moisturizer to make your hair shiny. I take [...]

Getting our imagination on at the Imaginon.
By Jane on January 27, 2012
The girls love coming to Gotham City. It’s a change of environment. We’re in the hustle and bustle of a bigger city and because we’re uptown, we get to enjoy urban, city life. I like that we get a taste of both the “country” (I put that in quotes because it’s not like we’re roughin’ [...]

Healthy Lunch: Tuna Fish Sandwiches.
By Jane on August 29, 2010
We love tuna fish at our house. Tuna is a great source for Omega 3s and aside, from the mayo, it’s pretty healthy…even then, you can use LESS mayo. Remember how I like to make the Tuna Sushi for the girls? They also like tuna fish sandwiches, where I substitute regular mayo for the Japanese [...]

I’m Going to Finish My Peach First
By Jane on August 29, 2009
DICK is driving me around METROPOLIS for a photo project I’m doing with www.buyusafirst.org. John Gibson, CEO of United Intelligence Corporation, is an entrepreneur who has several business of his own and also works as a consultant for women entrepreneurs. John is also my husband’s, mother’s, cousin’s husband. I meet John for the first time in California a month ago and immediately I like him. He’s Super-intelligent, seems to take everything in stride and is always smiling. Doesn’t he look kinda like Bill Gates?

Still haven’t made it to the Orchid Show. Mommy, we’re hungry!
By Jane on March 8, 2011
So we barely make it past the Kiosk Vendor when the girls are like, “Mommy, we’re hungry!” (Eyeball Rolling and Big Sigh!) It also doesn’t help that the damn Chick-fil-A Cow is right there greeting everyone and giving hugs to the kids. So, I decide if I’m to get any peace while looking at the [...]

Mountain of Laundry = Housework = Insanity.
By Jane on August 28, 2010
I’m not sure how it got to this point…well, yes I do. I just haven’t done it. Folded them that is. They’re clean. I dislike doing laundry very much. And, I have no qualms about sending my family out in public in wrinkled clothes. I may be anal about other things…laundry is not one of [...]

I Hop, U Hop, We All Hop for IHOP!
By Jane on August 30, 2009
We only eat out occasionally when I’m lazy to cook or there’s a special occasion. Today was a lazy day so we decide to take a bike ride out the INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES for breakfast. Now, I’m a mediocre, well almost novice bike rider. My limited riding in my childhood involved a used Pink Panther bike my mom Fanny Mae bought at a garage sale. My sister and I shared it and we took turns riding up and down my neighbor’s 200ft driveway. Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. You get the picture. Fanny Mae didn’t allow us to ride on the neighborhood streets for fear that we would get hit by cars.

What is this “Mom” businesses? I’m MOMMY!!!
By Jane on March 5, 2010
Eight seems to be the year that your kids start transitioning into a more grown up phase in their life. Thelma seems more mature and she even tells me all the time: “I really love being eight.” I can’t believe she’s eight already. Just a couple of weeks ago, my 8-year old started calling me [...]

Dick locks the keys in the Caddie, while it’s still running!
By Jane on January 14, 2011
The other day we were going to the grocery store and so since it was cold, Dick decided to warm up the car for a bit first. It is always a good idea to warm up your car before you take off but especially in the winter. I’ve always hated having to wait to warm [...]

If you have allergies or are prone to stuffy noses, try the Neti Pot.
By Jane on February 4, 2011
As you know, I’ve been plagued with Rhinitis (aka Stuffy Nose) but it has since gotten better in the second semester (thank the Lord!). Winter time and one is also more prone to stuffy or runny noses, sinuses, congestion, etc. One thing that helps immensely is the NETI POT. You may have seen it promoted [...]

Bold and beautiful: Thelma sports a head dress just because.
By Jane on May 7, 2010
The other day, Thelma had found a black rag that was once part of Dick’s shirt. It had just been washed. She decided she wanted to wear it. She looks just adorable!! In Muslim cultures, older girls and women are REQUIRED to wear head dresses to cover their head and hair. I think it’s awesome [...]

We find a rodent in the shed. Opossum or Rat?
By Jane on November 8, 2010
DISCLAIMER: To start, down here, we call OPPOSSUMS just POSSUM and all future reference to this rodent will be referred to as such. I just didn’t want to confuse those who don’t know this from the onset with the title. So I was in the shed getting some trimmers for the hedges when I spotted what I thought [...]

Jane’s Maternity Wear: Me and my bump at the Home Depot.
By Jane on December 31, 2010
Yes, those are my non-maternity ripped skinny jeans. My legs still fit and since they’re low-rise, they rise right below my bump. Awesome possum. Oh, and you’ll be seeing this jacket on me alot. It’s the only winter coat that I have that fits my exploding upper body. Yes, it’s a Gap Maternity Jacket that [...]

Forgiveness Update: The King and I
By Jane on September 11, 2010
It seems I do have a good one…when he wants to be. I already know this. But of course, in the midst of controversy and filled with anger, one easily forgets. I’m still not sure if he realizes what it is that he’s done, you know how men are. Many times, it lasts only so long [...]

Just an average day in the life of Jane and Dick.
By Jane on October 7, 2009
Our days are not like most people’s. We don’t have 9-5 jobs. We don’t send our kids to school. So, here’s a glimpse into a day in the life of Jane and Dick. Every day is different, which makes for a less boring, less monotonous life. We started our day at 11:15am this particular morning [...]
Recipe: Pan Seared Red Snapper and Stripe Bass and Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves. (Ca Chien)
By Jane on March 2, 2010
We just went shopping at our local Asian grocery store and bought some fresh fish. Now to cook it up! The fancy way to say how we’re preparing this is “pan searing” the fish. Basically, we’re frying it in a pan. In Vietnamese, fried fish is called “Ca Chien” and it’s quite simple. I picked [...]

Cher comes over for a Persian breakfast at my house, in her jammies.
By Jane on December 13, 2011
My friend, Cher, is always inviting me to come over to her house and I’ve turned her down so many times because she lives “so far away” (about 30 minutes) and because I am a lazy friend who doesn’t want to leave her bubble. However, to make up for it, I instead have her come to [...]

Shopping at the market for a unique gift.
By Jane on September 22, 2010
Lucy’s birthday was coming up and I wanted to get her something unique. What I wanted to get her was a nice apron, since my dear sister (who never used to cook) is now cooking. (Lucy often even uses my recipes.) But, when I shopped around, I found all the aprons I looked at to [...]
