Unless I take pictures of myself, I would never have any. Now you know why most pictures of me have one arm extended and half of my face is lopped off. Of course, Dick says it’s because my head is so big and only half of it would fit on the camera. Such the comedian [...]

Mommy I’m Hot, But I Want Money!!
By Jane on September 2, 2009
This is our second year having a lemonade sale. Last year the girls had great success and they’ve been begging me to do another one so they could earn some more money to redecorate their room. I’m just glad they want to earn it versus stealing it. Tomorrow is the first day of school for public school here and summer is officially over!
So, I agreed but I was not thrilled to sit in the hot, muggy sun (89F) and get eaten alive by pesky, blood thirsty mosquitos.
I contributed $9.43 to get their business going (which they gave me $6 initially), prepared the lemonade for them, and agreed to give of my time pro-bono. Thelma and Louise recruited a helper, their cousin, to assist as well.
Shopping at the market for a unique gift.
By Jane on September 22, 2010
Lucy’s birthday was coming up and I wanted to get her something unique. What I wanted to get her was a nice apron, since my dear sister (who never used to cook) is now cooking. (Lucy often even uses my recipes.) But, when I shopped around, I found all the aprons I looked at to [...]

Thelma has her first real soccer match. It’s the FIRE.
By Jane on September 20, 2010
We just had our first soccer match of the season! Louise isn’t playing because she’s one year younger and by the time she decided she wanted to play, it was too late. Coach is just super nice and lets her practice with them. Although Thelma played when she was 5, since it was just a [...]

Lucy and Martha want some Christmas pictures. CUTE & CHEESY is the theme.
By Jane on December 17, 2009
Friends and Roommates Lucy Lu and Martha Stewart request that I take some pictures of them so they can send out Christmas cards of their “family”. Their family consists of them and their dogs, both of which are the same breed, Brussels Griffon, only they quite differ in size. Lucy tells me that her and Martha [...]

Ice Skating fun turns into a trip to the ER. Yes, stitches required.
By Jane on October 30, 2009
As I may have mentioned, Thelma is taking ice skating lessons and cannot get enough of it. She wants to go at every opportunity and likes to get there early so she can maximize ice time. We went for a private lesson today to prepare for a competition that is coming up. She had her [...]

Jane fails first Glucose Test and must go in for the 3-hour Test. Ugh…
By Jane on March 4, 2011
So, I failed the preliminary Glucose Test but missed the mark marginally. I scored 152 and 140 is the limit. Still, they wanted me to go in for the extended Glucose Test, which lasts THREE HOURS and fasting is required…because telling a pregnant woman to starve herself is a good thing. After delaying and forgetting [...]

Our first trip to the mountains this summer.
By Jane on June 3, 2010
Every year since I was a kid, we go the mountains during the summer for some FAMILY FUN. Our tradition is that we go to the same spot, pack lunch and just CHILL. My parents, Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, usually go with us and they always have the MOST FABULOUS lunch ready for us. [...]

It seems this last year we’ve had lots of visitors and when they visit, we usually chill on my back porch, play ping pong or go biking or all of the above. So, my latest visitor was my Cousin and his son, Dumbledore, who I call my cousin too because it’s so hard to remember [...]

My girls found a souvenir of one of my greatest accomplishments while in high school. I received this button for successfully finishing the St. Jude Walk-a-thon twenty years ago when I was like 15 years old. The walk was a 26 12 mile (Apologies: Lapse in memory. It was 12 miles.) walk around downtown Metropolis. Some [...]

Our Thanksgiving: Family, Fun, and Food.
By Jane on November 26, 2010
So as I mentioned in my Thanksgiving message yesterday, we started out our day by taking a walk around my parent’s neighborhood. It was such a beautiful day! WALKING COOKING After our walk, Lucy and I got to cooking, along with Louise’s help.

Thelma gets burned from Hot Cocoa.
By Jane on June 22, 2010
While I was with Louise at the photo shoot. I get a frantic call from Thelma. She’s crying like crazy and I can hardly understand her. I’m dying inside because I’m two hours away and there’s nothing I can do. My mom had taken Thelma to work with her while I was with Louise. She [...]

It’s Black Friday and I know some of you were up at the crack of dawn, even before that. Yeah, I was up at 3:30am but there ain’t NO WAY I was heading out in that freezing weather to stand in line for a $10 discount off some appliance. I may be a bargain shopper [...]

What’s that in the distance???
By Jane on May 4, 2010
On our way to dinner, I see something in the distance in the middle of the road. I’m squinting…what is that??? We near it and immediately recognize it… LOL. Anyone missing a MUFFLER??? Trust me, you’ll know if you did. -Jane, Finder of Muffler.

I get a loaner while getting a car inspected. Testing out the Lexus IS250!!!
By Jane on April 25, 2011
The other day I had to take a Lexus in to get a 46-point inspection done on it. Not having the time to wait around for it, I asked Lexus to give me a loaner…and boy did they! Lexus gave me a choice of either a RX (the small SUV) or the ES (mid-size sedan) or [...]

Giving our guests the bike tour: Movies, Starbucks, Greenway.
By Jane on March 23, 2011
The weather was perfect for biking so we decided to give our guests the bike tour, as we do with many of our guests. Like when Lucy went with Oscar, or when I went biking in my 4-inch heels, or when we went with the cousins around the suburbs or to get some burgers. Luckily, with [...]

I Hop, U Hop, We All Hop for IHOP!
By Jane on August 30, 2009
We only eat out occasionally when I’m lazy to cook or there’s a special occasion. Today was a lazy day so we decide to take a bike ride out the INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES for breakfast. Now, I’m a mediocre, well almost novice bike rider. My limited riding in my childhood involved a used Pink Panther bike my mom Fanny Mae bought at a garage sale. My sister and I shared it and we took turns riding up and down my neighbor’s 200ft driveway. Back and forth and back and forth and back and forth. You get the picture. Fanny Mae didn’t allow us to ride on the neighborhood streets for fear that we would get hit by cars.
