Freezing food makes for less trips to the grocery store. It’s time to be efficient!!

This year, I’m trying to be more efficient with my time. We’re so busy that I don’t have time to run around to go grocery shopping as often as I do. After spending time with J Lo and Mama F, I noticed how they would freeze meats and veggies so that if they wanted to cook something, they just thaw it out. Normally, I don’t like to freeze anything and buy fresh but there is just no more time these days. Must be efficient!

Since we use ground beef often, I do what Mama F does. She presses it flat into a large freezer bag, that way it thaws faster since it’s thin. This is great for kabob, spaghetti, burgers or any other dish where you can use ground beef.

The basis for many persian dishes is a bunch of chopped up herbs/veggies. I never froze these before because I would chop it all by hand. Very laborious and tiresome. Now that I have my new food processor, compliments of my lovely Mom, Fanny Mae, this makes freezing more feasible, easy, and fast.

I tell Dick to buy a bunch of  Italian Parsley, Fuzzy Parsley (Yes, I know this is not the real name for it), Dill Weed and Leek because this can be used for dishes like Sabzi Pollow, Ghormeh Sabzi, and KooKoo Sabzi.  You see how they all have SABZI? That’s the veggies!

Be sure to soak the veggies in water because they are SUPER dirty. Check out the remnants that you could be eating! Makes your food taste sandy. NO GOOD YO!

Guess who’s wanting to help me…Louise!!

Louise loves to help in the kitchen. What a darling!

I’m thinking that I’ll just show her how I use the food processor and have her watch, maybe even let her push the buttons.

But, she wants to do it ALL by HERSELF!

So, I cut up the vegetables in big chunks and let her process them.

Ok, so it’s a little messy but I don’t think I would be much cleaner. It’s just a messy job.

Besides me showing her how to do it in the beginning, she does the REST all by herself.

Great job Louise!

I put them in freezer bags and we’re all set!

Next time I want to cook something, I don’t have to run to the grocery store and waste time doing it. Yay!

hey! I do this too. I usually cook the gr. beef & freeze in baggies so it’s ready for chili, tacos, spagh. sauce Also, you can do a huge sam’s pack of chicken in the crock pot (add nothing!) and it shreds so easily. Then baggie up the shredded meat and it’s ready to go! I haven’t tried herbs & veggies. yet. Would love the recipe for some of the stuff in this post.
