So we’re at the Grandparents house. I love coming here because there is always great Vietnamese food, compliments of my fantastic cooking Dad! Yes, my dad kicks ass at Vietnamese cooking. It’s the reason why I don’t cook alot of Vietnamese food at home. Since I live less than a mile away, it’s just too convenient for me to come over for dinner and have the BEST Vietnamese food ever. Seriously, I’m not saying that just because he’s my dad.
It’s after dinner and because I’m a slacker and probably stuffed from dinner, I am too lazy to help with the dishes. My aunt, Queen Latifa always says that the best kids come from lazy parents. She’s absolutely right! I ask Louise to help Grandma with the dishes and was so proud when she didn’t hesitate to oblige. Grandma was planning on running the dishwasher, a rare occasion as most Asians I know use their dishwasher as a drying rack more than a machine to clean their dishes. I think it’s because they don’t trust the machine to wash it thoroughly. Anyway, my mom almost always washes the dishes by hand. Not me, I’m super glad to have a dishwasher that I actually use as a dishwasher!
The kids are old enough now that they can help out and I want them to learn this kind of responsibility and that we all must contribute. Dish washing is one of those life skills you don’t learn at school, except we make it a point to at our house since we homeschool.

I’m not going to be anal about the organization. That will be another lesson on a different day. I’m just glad to have her help out and my mom is loving it.
