Red Hair Net Lunch Girls

Thelma and Louise love to pretend to own a restaurant and have the adults be the customers. We’re at Fanny Mae’s house and Thelma and Louise have invited me to come to their restaurant.

As the chefs for this restaurant, food sanitation and cleanliness is of UTMOST importance to them so Thelma and Louise are sporting these fabulous red hair nets that we got when we went to the Mayfield Dairy Farm for a Homeschool field trip.

I had a feeling these would come handy later so I we had kept the hairnets from the field trip. I’m just LOVING and DYING at the outfit that Louise throws together for her chef-ly duties. LMAO. So dang cute!!

Red hairnet with matching vintage red apron, kept by my dear mom for over 25 years now. Fanny Mae has never even used this apron but SOMEHOW, she’s managed to keep it all of these years. I’m being sarcastic but this is one of the few items that I’m glad she kept.

CAN I HAVE THE SPECIAL PLEASE?

I’ve ordered today’s “SPECIAL”. They’re going all out with “pretend playtime” today. Thelma and Louise are preparing REAL FOOD for me.

Louise is late to “work” and comes to find that they are serving up REAL FOOD for today’s pretend restaurant.

Thelma has concocted some sort of CUCUMBER surprise for me. Looks like salt, pepper and lime juice is involved. Not bad, not bad…

Louise wants to help too.

Wait, what’s that you’re adding???

IMG_1103-6

Are you grating a piece of french bread on top of the cucumbers???

IMG_1106-3

Uh…huh…Interesting….

Yes, I’m a bit weary and worried about having to “eat” this for lunch.

IMG_1107-4

Of course, Louise sees this and is like ” I wanna try too!!”

Ok ladies, you had me at the cucumbers with salt, pepper, and lime juice. But, I’m not sure I’m fond of soggy, grated bread crumbs.

Plus, I’m REALLY not sure I want to eat this after seeing Louise look down at her hand like this.

It’s just one of those gestures that people will misperceive. It’s like looking down at your fingers and then smelling them…ALWAYS MISPERCEIVED.

Anyway, I’m not a very good Mom because I did not try my children’s concoction, but you have to at least give me credit for supporting their attempt at cooking and letting them explore!
