After going Easter Egg hunting, we decided to take the girls to the BOARDWALK so they can ride their scooter and skateboard.
Thelma and Louise had so much fun using all the sidewalks and paved areas here.
Not to mention the fantastic view.
While the girls were having fun, Grandma was just chilling, watching.
JANE’S SKATEBOARD EXPERIENCE
When I was a kid, I tried Skateboarding once. I was about 10 or so and was waiting in front of the school for the bus to come pick me up. While waiting, another kid in my class had his skateboard with him and he moved on it with such ease. I decided to give it a whirl…why not???
Much to my dismay, it wasn’t as easy as I thought and I totally fell over the side of a curb because I didn’t know how to STOP, scraping the side of my leg and BLEEDING in front of all my classmates. “Yeah, I’m ok, really!”
And that ends any future attempts for Jane at Skateboarding. Dick says he used to be a skater that could do all the tricks. Yeah, sure! I would love to see that!
FIERCENESS ON A SKATEBOARD
Thelma has indeed found her own style.
Here she is sporting a tank top, stolen from dear Auntie Lucy’s closet.
To make it fit, she pinned the back with bobby pins!
Yes, this Chica has got some MAD STYLE.
She’s super excited about her new hobby…SKATEBOARDING.
Only, this board looks like a toy board. She’s still determined to ride it.
Down the ramp.
Up the ramp.
Down the ramp.
Back up the ramp.
Down again.
Up again. You get the picture. This little ramp was all she needed for a good while.
At one point, a police officer on a bicycle came over to tell us that skateboarding wasn’t allowed:
“Now, I didn’t make up the rules but there’s no skateboarding around here. “
He said it with a smile which told me he was just doing his duty by mentioning it to me. He knows it’s directed more at the teenagers and he even mentioned some that would ride along the rails. I told him I didn’t think Thelma would be venturing out to do that just yet.
Thelma’s FORM could use some work. Regardless, her determination is UNWAVERING.
Trying out different methods.
LOUISE ANd HER SCOOTER
Louise has so much fun on her scooter.
Free as a bird. Kids are so LOVELY.
I love my little girl’s SPUNKINESS.
AND TOGETHER
Wanna ride??
DON’T FALL IN
One of the things that drives my mom nuts the most is that I don’t hover over them like a protective hawk.
I tell them to be cautious and let them venture out in life.
Fanny Mae is CRAZY WORRIED that the girls are going to fall in.
I’m nervous too but kids have to be given some INDEPENDENCE to make some decisions and experience life on their own. How else will they grow???
So I tell the girls to BE CAREFUL, DON’T FALL IN and let them venture on their own with me close by, watching them.
They were down there a couple of minutes and decided that was PLENTY for them.
TIME TO EAT
Just as soon as we were about to get hungry, Grandma brings out the goods.
She packed some sandwiches for us.
If you didn’t know this already, Asians don’t go ANYWHERE without bringing some FOOD along.
It could be a short drive to the mall…better pack some snacks in case we get hungry.
We definitely thoroughly enjoyed our snack.
The girls just adore their Grandma.
We all love Fanny Mae.
