We attend our first mock swim meet.

Our swim team had their first mock swim meet. Since we’ve never been on a swim team before, this was interesting to see and experience.I was amazed at how much work has to be done for a swim meet.

PARENTS ARE WORKIN’ IT

All parents are needed to help pull off such an event and voluteer for all sorts of positions from timers to runners, to parking, to announcers, etc… etc… etc…

I volunteer for computer input. It seems no one else wants this job.

I don’t mind it except that you can’t really watch your kids swim (or take pictures). You’re constantly busy inputting times and they come in FAST.

Louise is very excited and nervous about having her first swim meet.

I tell her don’t worry about anything and just have fun.

Poor Thelma can’t participate because of her burn.

Fanny Mae and Dick are also here to support.

Fanny Mae is to the right and behind that guy in the pink.

GETTING READY TO SWIM

The kids are divided into groups and heats and when it’s their turn, they go to this first waiting area. I’m not sure what it’s called or what its for. Warm up or something?

After that they go to the second waiting area that is right before stepping up to swim.

Then it’s time to get up to the podium.

Louise seems nervous. She’s not sure what she’s supposed to do. She looks left.

She looks right.

READY… SET… GO!

A few instructions are given…

And off she goes…

They haven’t learned how to dive yet.

They have experienced swimmers helping out to swim next to the younger swimmers to make sure they can make it across the pool for a full lap.

This is only for the mock meet. In order to compete, they have to graduate from the beginner group then they’re on their own to make it across the pool.

So proud of my baby.

Louise is really enjoying swimming and seemed to like competing.

So funny how the swim cap pushes on your eyes. LOL

There’s a lot of waiting between the different heats that your child is going to swim.

LOUISE’S SECOND RUN

Get into position.

Timid as ever. We’re gonna need to work on this.

And go!

Betcha didn’t know that when you dive, your feet go in first. LOL

Good job Lovie!!

It was so fun being there supporting my baby and participating in a swim meet.
